Tokyo: In hockey, we often talk about superb individual goals by Major Dhyan Chand or Dhanraj Pillai, but this generation has witnessed one of the best individual goals scored in the Tokyo 2020 quarter-final between India and Great Britain. It is by the Indian mid-fielder, Hardik Singh. The 22-year old boy from Jalandhar sealed the match in the dying moments of the game for India.

With two men on cards, India was looking vulnerable to hold the 2-0 lead. As expected, Great Britain scored due to a lapse in the defence. At 2-1, Great Britain was on the offensive, but on the brink of the 57th minute, Hardik Singh got hold of the ball. He decided to counter-attack as the majority of the British players were in the attacking positions.

Hardik ran all the way through the mid-field on the counter and went for a solo goal. After failing to score on the first hit, Hardik made sure he scored on the rebound. It was a fantastic individual goal by the young man.
