National Games 2023: Maharashtra continues to dominate in the 37th National Games being held in Goa. The western state remained at the top of the medal tally after the fourth day with 106 medals, which include 45 gold, 30 silver, and 31 bronze. Maharashtra is way ahead of Haryana, which is in the second spot with 45 medals, including 18 gold medals, 12 silver medals, and 15 bronze medals.
Gymnast Pranati Nayak bagged yet another gold in the Beams Apparatus and a silver in the Floor Exercise Apparatus to help Odisha finish their gymnastics campaign with a total of four gold and four silver medals. Athletes from 28 states, eight Union Territories, and the Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) are participating in the National Games, which conclude on November 9. Over 10,000 athletes are competing across 43 sports.
On Sunday, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik felicitated Pranati Nayak, the shining star of gymnastics in the state, with a cash reward of Rs 23 lakh for her performance at the Games. The cash award was given in recognition of her achievement at the Games. According to an official statement, the gymnast bagged four gold medals and one silver. The chief minister also congratulated head coach Ashok Mishra.
Nayak, who made a mark in women’s artistic gymnastics, began her campaign with a top podium finish in the all-around event and followed it with golds in the vault, beams events, and uneven bars apparatus. In floor exercises, Nayak missed the gold medal but still found herself on the podium with a silver, the official statement said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the event on October 26 at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Fatorda, South Goa.
