New Delhi: Indian cricket team's star fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been facing a lot of criticism after India lost to Babar Azam-led Pakistan in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup match played in Dubai on Sunday. In the India-Pakistan match, India was defeated by the Men in Green by 10 wickets. Shami had a poor outing as he proved to be India's most expensive bowler and conceded 43 runs in 3.5 overs.
Some merciless trolls on social media even linked Shami's dismal bowling performance against Pakistan with his religion. However, reacting to this, many current and former cricketers as well as politicians came out in support of Shami by posting tweets for the Indian speedster.
Now, BCCI has also shown its support for Mohammed Shami.
Pakistan's wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan, who played a crucial role in powering Pakistan to a historic win against India, also posted a tweet in support of Shami as he urged fans to show respect to "one of the best bowlers in the world".
He wrote, "The kind of pressure, struggles & sacrifices a player has to go through for his country & his people is immeasurable. @MdShami11 is a star & indeed of the best bowlers in the world. Please respect your stars. This game should bring people together & not divide 'em."
Before Rizwan, India's legendary cricketers including Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Irfan Pathan, Harbhajan Singh and Anil Kumble also showed support for Shami. The trolls did not even spare skipper Virat Kohli as he was too subjected to abuse on social media after India's T20 WC loss against Pakistan.
