Real Madrid's left-back Marcelo has admitted that the ball did hit his hand in the 45th minute of the game as he blocked Joshua Kimmich's cross with his hands placed near his body.

The Brazilian confirmed this in front of the reporters as he said "The ball hit my hand. You already know I don't speak to the referee. He's already erred against us."

When asked whether a penalty should have been awarded, the Brazil international added: “Well, if it hit my hand, I'd say so.

“But you guys know that I don't talk about the referees. Many times, refs have ruled against us, and now, I can't come here and talk about his performance again, because when they rule against us I don’t talk about it, you know. I imagined you'd ask me that...

“It is what it is. It was difficult for the ref, because there were many players blocking his view, but if I came here to tell you that the ball didn't touch my hand, I'd be lying to you.”

The decision certainly had a great impact on the game as if the penalty would have been awarded we certainly would have seen a more intriguing battle.

Real Madrid saw off Bayern Munich in 4-3 aggregate in their UEFA Champions League semi-final after a thrilling draw at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday.

Bayern scored in the 3rd minute itself but then Real equalized in the 11th minute with a Karim Benzema header. Bayern still pushed for the second away goal. Joshua Kimmich whipped a cross which appeared to hit Marcelo's hand but the penalty appeals were brushed aside.

In the 46th minute, Karim Benzema again scored as he took the advantage of a mistake by Sven Ulreich. Bayern did find a second goal but couldn't find a third goal despite creating many chances.

Real progressed to their 3rd successive Champions League Final and will look to extend their streak to 3 titles after a dismal domestic season.
