Former Sri Lankan speedster Lasith Malinga turned a year older to celebrate his 37th Birthday. Greetings poured in for the Lankan pacer from all quarters of the cricketing world..However, the one which stood out the most was a special post by Malinga's franchisee Mumbai Indians.

Mumbai Indians posted birthday greetings for their champion bowler Lasith Malinga with a special tweet that acknowledged the stellar feats achieved by their leading wicket taker and pace bowling spearhead in the Indian Premier League.


Popularly nicknamed 'Slinga Malinga', the Lankan speedster has been the most successful bowler for Mumbai Indians in the IPL with a staggering 170 wickets in just games.

Malinga also happens to be the highest wicket taker in the IPL history since the inception of the league. Malinga has been the spearhead of the MI seam attack for over a decade and been an outright match winners in his own merit with his pacy swinging deliveries and toe crushing yorkers. Malinga has been a pivotal asset to a star studded Mumbai Indians team which has gone onto win the IPL a record four times.

Malinga bid adieu to international cricket on 26 July 2019, after a highly successful international career with Sri Lanka..He ended up as his national team's third highest wicket taker (338) in one day internationals and the leading wicket taker (107 wickets) in T20 cricket. Malinga has the unique distinction of taking three hat-tricks in ODI cricket.
