IPL 2020: In an explosive match, KL Rahul who debuted as a captain in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 on Monday to lead the Kings XI Punjab in the match against Delhi Capitals, was heard hurling abuse to one of the teammates. The Mohali-based franchise was at the verge of winning the game as Mayank Agarwal’s excellent innings helped them pull the total scores as of the Delhi team. However, the match ended in a tie and during the Super Over played subsequently, KL Rahul’s team just scored two runs. Mohammed Shami gave away the three runs in just two deliveries as Delhi became the winner.
In the first innings a short incident turned the spotlight on Rahul on social media. It was his first captaincy debut and he seemed under pressure. Even as the cricketer managed a good job on the captaincy front, he was heard abusing a teammate during the innings.
Rahul belongs to southern state Karnataka and a lot of other players from that region are playing in the Punjab squad. The captain was caught in action when he asked one of the players to come forward at the time of setting the field. The way in which Rahul called on the player had caught him off guard.
Since the matches are being played in empty stadium led to his voice being clearly heard on the mic. But as soon as the player realised his comments could be audible, he turned quite.
His close friend Danish Sait and teammate Mayank Agarwal also made fun on Rahul on social media.
Even after losing in the Super Over, KL Rahul was extremely happy to be a part of the game and praised the team for its effort. He also went on to post a couple of pictures on Instagram.
Meanwhile the Punjab squad will take over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on September 24, and KL Rahul’s team will be aiming at gaining two crucial points from this game.
