New Delhi: Ireland cricket team's star opener Paul Stirling broke a unique world record while batting against UAE on Sunday in the UAE Summer T20 Bash 2021. The record Stirling broke was earlier held by Indian captain Virat Kohli.


During Stirling's hard-fought innings of 40 runs off 35 balls against UAE, he hit four fours and with overtook Virat Kohli to attain the record for hitting maximum fours in T20 cricket. Stirling has now hit 288 fours in T20 format, while Virat has hit 285 fours in his T20 career so far.


Stirling and Kohli are followed by New Zealand's Martin Guptill, who has the record of hitting 256 fours in T20 cricket. Team India's vice-captain Rohit Sharma is at number four in the elite list with 252 fours and Australia T20 skipper captain Aaron Finch is at number five.



Paul Stirling has hit the most runs for his country Ireland in the shortest format of the game i.eT20 cricket. The star opener has scored 2495 runs in 89 T20 matches. He also holds the record for scoring a century in T20 International cricket.


In the sixth match of the 'UAE Summer T20 Bash 2021', Sterling came out to open with Kevin O'Brien. Together, both openers gave their team a great start as they stitched a solid 85 runs stand in 11.3 overs for the first wicket.


Veteran Brian played a fiery knock of 54 runs off 45 balls with one four and two sixes. However, the team could not take advantage of this excellent start and could only manage 134 runs in the allotted overs.
