The Women's Premier League auction list has finally been announced by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). The inaugural season of the marquee event will be played from March 4-26 in Mumbai with the auction set to happen at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai on February 13 beginning on 02:30 pm (IST).


It is pertinent to note that while a total of 1525 players from from 15 countries registered for the the much-anticipated league, the final list contains only 409 names. Out of 409 players, 246 are Indians and 163 are overseas players. Among the overseas stars, 8 players from associate nations find their name on the list. As many 202 capped cricketers are listed on the auction list while 199 uncapped players will go under the hammer.






The highest base price is set at INR 50 Lakhs and with players having the right to choose it for themselves, 24 players have registered themselves under this price bracket. Star India cricketers Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, Deepti Sharma and Shafali Verma are all listed in this bracket.


Ellyse Perry, Sophie Ecclestone, Sophie Devine and Deandra Dottin are some of the overseas names that will ignite a bidding for them beginning at INR 50 Lakhs.

The next base price is of 40 Lakhs and 30 players are listed under this price bracket.

Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and the Adani Group and Capri Global are the five successful bidders for teams in the WPL. The maximum number of players who can be  bought are 90 with each team having a total purse of INR 12 crore. Mumbai vs Ahmedabad is likely to be the tournament opener at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai. Brabourne Stadium will be the only other venue which will host the WPL matches.
