After a historic auction of the Women's Premier League, the franchises finally have their teams ready for the inaugural season of the competition beginning next month. A total of ₹59,50,00,000 were spent at the Jio Convention Centre and as many as 87 players sold at the bidding war in Mumbai. Smriti Mandhana emerged as the most expensive purchase at the inaugural auction. She also became the first-ever player to be sold at a WPL Auction.

Talking about the Gujarat Giants squad, they managed to build a 18-member squad on Monday, roping in the likes of Ashleigh Gardner and Beth Mooney. Among Indian talents, the team was successful in buying Sneh Rana and Sushma Verma.

It is pertinent to note that Gujarat, in the men's IPL, had won the tournament in their inaugural season itself, and a similar expectation will be there from the women's team itself although in completely different contexts.
