Having played 234 matches for Royal Challengers Bangalore, Virat Kohli said that he is lucky to have played for this one franchise. The former RCB skipper has been playing for Bangalore ever since the IPL started back in 2008. It's the trust from both sides that helped him to represent the Banglore side from day one.

“I feel really fortunate to have played for one franchise from day one. “It’s been a constant relationship based on trust from both ends that we are working for the same thing and the value that I have seen fans connecting with me very organically is because of the fact that we play the game for the right reasons,” Kohli said.

"I am really honoured and fortunate to be here for so long, in a place where I absolutely love coming to every year and start the IPL journey all over again. So, it’s always very exciting,” he added.

The former India skipper has scored 7044 runs at an average of 36.50 for RCB with the help of five tons and 50 half-centuries. He also led the side in 141 matches and the Bangalore-based franchise has won 68 games and lost 71. Virat had a below-average season with RCB in the last season of IPL, but then the 34-year-old has his form back this season. In the 11 innings he played, the stalwart has collected 420 runs at an average of 42 and a strike rate of 133.76.

Despite Kohli’s great form, RCB has been struggling as a unit in the 2023 edition of the IPL. In order to make it to the playoffs, they need to win every game from now on. Their next encounter is on Sunday as they face Rajasthan royals.
