Former Team India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli, who is currently in England ahead of the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final, congratulated the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 triumph. Kohli was following the game from UK and soon after CSK beat GT in what was a thrilling summit clash with Chennai beating Gujarat in a last-ball finish, he left a special message for his national teammate and his former skipper MS Dhoni.
Notably, Jadeja was at the centre of CSK's win. In a tensed finish to the run chase, CSK needed 10 to win off 2 deliveries with Jadeja on strike. Even though some of the GT fans had started celebrating at this point, Jaddu had other ideas as he first scored a six before a finely placed stroke down the leg side for a boundary to CSK register a record-equalling fifth title win.
Moments after the dramatic fixture, Kohli took to his Instagram story and wrote: "What a champion @ravindra.jadeja well done CSK and special mention to @mahi7781." Kohli's RCB had failed to secure a place in the final four this year.

Even though Dhoni marshalled his resources beautifully throughout IPL 2023 and even played quite a few impactful cameos with the bat, in what could be his final outing in IPL history Dhoni departed for a golden duck. However, when he was asked about his retirement at the post-match presentation, he hinted that he could be back for yet another season of the competition but refrained committing anything as a decision would be taken considering the state of his body in the coming months.
"Circumstantially, if you see, this is the best time to announce my retirement. But the amount of love and affection I have been shown wherever I have been this year, the easy thing would be for me to say 'Thank you very much', but the tough thing for me is to work hard for another nine months and come back and play at least one more season of IPL," Dhoni said.
No captain has won more IPL trophies than Dhoni.
