Vijay Shankar has been in great nick in IPL 2023. Playing for the Gujarat Titans this season, the all-rounder has majorly been used with the bat and has come good, having already scored two half-centuries from 6 matches. His average so far in this season stands at 49.75 with a strike rate of 165.83.

Interestingly, Shankar's form seems to be peaking just at the time when the Indian team management would also be keeping a close on the players with the ODI World Cup set to be played at home later this year. If Shankar's continues to have a great tournament in the second, it won't be a surprise if he is recalled into the ODI setup, especially considering that he was given a chance in the last ODI World Cup which had raises a few eyebrows.

However, when Shankar was asked if he was eyeing an ODI comeback after his unbeaten 24-ball 51 helped GT chase down 180 successfully, he said that he is not mentally ready think about the same.

"It's too far for me. Mentally I'm really not thinking about that. If I can win matches for my team that's the only satisfaction I can take from every game," Shankar ws quoted as saying by news agency PTI after the match.

"I'll be really happy to contribute to my team's wins. Cricket is something we love, that's why we still continue playing. No expectations, I just wanted to enjoy my cricket," Shankar added.

Meanwhile, GT's win has taken the defending champions to the top of the points table with 12 points from 8 matches.

"The amount of practice we do as a team is unbelievable, every individual in our team practices so hard. We do it harsh and harsh," Shankar said.

"We find ways to come out good in difficult situations. There will be difficult situations be in IPL or any T20 match. It's about communicating well," he stated.
