Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a dramatic 5-wicket over the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad to clinch a record-equalling fifth title. The summit clash of the sixteenth edition of the cash-rich league, which was originally slated to be held on Sunday (May 29) eventually got over way past 1'o clock on Tuesday after rain made no play possible on Day 1 and returned moments after CSK's run-chase started on Monday.

At the end of it all though, those who were present at the largest cricket stadium in the world, were treated to an absolutely thrilling game with the Men in Yellow clinching a last-ball win over GT. CSK captain MS Dhoni won the toss and invited GT to bat first, accurately predicting that the weather could have a role to play later in the match. Gujarat, playing on their home turf, posted 214/4, the highest-total ever made in an IPL final, riding on half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan (96 off 47) and Wriddhiman Saha (54 off 39).

Chennai were then given a revised target of 171 in 15 overs after the rain interruption which they got to off the last ball with the help of a boundary from Ravindra Jadeja. Following the match, social media has been flooded with reactions. Google CEO Sundar Pichai, who was born and grew up in Tamil Nadu, also took to Twitter to congratulate CSK. His tweet has gone viral.

"Some final that one!  Great #TATAIPL as always and congrats to CSK! and GT will be back stronger next year," Pichai wrote.

Notably, Pichai has gone on record previously admitting his love for the game. He even said that, at one point, he considered taking up cricket as a career option. However, he did admit that he watches more of football these days which is easier to follow from the United States.
