India’s young batter Shubman Gill has been making headlines with his extraordinary performances across formats. Be it ODI, Test, or the shortest format, he has been smashing bowlers everywhere. Seeing this, former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja lauded Gill. According to him, the Punjab-based batter has got all the potential to become the next big thing in Indian cricket.

"He (Gill) has so much potential, he has so much time. He looks so naturally beautiful when he plays. When he drives, there's a curve on the shot. He has a lot of time to play his strokes. It doesn't matter if he scores on the offside, on side, hook or pull, it's just so beautiful and neat-and-clean. Many predict that he could be the next best batter after Virat Kohli," Raja said on his YouTube channel.

"He has touch, class, and elegance like Rohit Sharma. And his temperament is quite strong. From Tests, ODIs, and T20Is as well, he has tormented the bowlers. When you see him, it seems the time has stopped. At such a young age, he already has records. Sky is the limit for him," he added.

Recently, Gill showed his class again as he scored  67 off 49 balls and contributed to Gujarat Titans' six-wicket win over Punjab Kings in the Indian Premier League here on Thursday. As of now, the opener batter has scored two centuries in Tests, four in ODIs, and one in T20Is.

Earlier, former South Africa batting legend AB de Villiers also praised Shubman Gill. He said, “Shubman Gill is one of those very talented players up the order that can compliment someone like Kane Williamson. Shubman has come a very long way with his cricket and is almost like an experienced campaigner now even though he is still young.”

Gill played a crucial role in the Gujarat Titans’ winning run in the last IPL season. He finished the IPL 2022 as Titan’s second-highest run-getter by making 483 runs in 16 innings.
