Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Chandrakant Pandit was elated with the performance of their young spinner Suyash Sharma. In the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the rookie spinner scalped 3 wickets while conceding only 30 runs.

“We have seen him (Suyash) at trial matches. He is very quick in the air, and it’s very tough to pick him. It’s just the inexperience; but he showed a fighting attitude,” said coach Pandit after the match.

Suyash Sharma made a mark for himself in his debut IPL game, picking up the wickets of Dinesh Karthik, Anuj Rawat, and tail-ender Karn Sharma and helped Kolkata defeat  Faf du Plessis’ side by 81 runs here on Thursday. Coach Pandit also lauded his batters for battling out in the middle and helping the team post a  200-plus score after they were struggling at 89/5.

“It’s a good win. The boys have shown the character. Looking at the initial stage, having lost wickets, and coming back to get 200-plus. We just expected the pitch to help the spinners. But you require enough runs. Shardul and Rinku Singh (46 off 33) counter-attacked the opposition,” added Pandit.

Talking about the high-octane match, Knight Riders registered a thumping win over the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 81 runs at their den at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Batters like Shardul Thakur, Rinku Singh, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz starred with their willows and powered Kolkata to 204/7 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Virat Kohli and Faf started well but then Nitish Rana brought his spinners into the action and RCB batters looked clueless. Narine cleaned up Kohli, and Varun Chakravarthy then picked three wickets. Suyash Sharma then came up with 3 wickets and helped Kolkata Knight Riders win the game.
