Virat Kohli Security Threat: In what comes as a big news ahead of Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) IPL 2024 Eliminator against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, it is being learnt that RCB had to cancel their solo practice session as well as the pre-match press conference owing to a security threat to Virat Kohli.


While RCB were supposed to practice at the Gujarat College Ground in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (May 21), a day prior to their knockout match, the team decided to cancel it with no official statement coming from them. Both teams then even went on to cancel a pre-match press conference which is usually a norm, especially before a big match.

A report carried by Anandabazar Patrika now quotes Gujarat Police officials to claim that the reason why both the teams cancelled their pre-match press conference was a security threat to Kohli. The Gujarat Police have reportedly arrested four men from the Ahmedabad airport on suspicion of terrorist activities.

A search of the place where the suspects lay hidden included weapons, suspicious texts and videos among other things hinting a security threat to Kohli. The information was conveyed to both teams which is when RCB opted to cancel their practice session while RR went ahead with their net session.


"Virat Kohli learned about the arrests after arriving in Ahmedabad. He is a national treasure, and his security is our utmost priority, Vijay Singh Jwala, a police officer, was quoted as saying as per the same report.

"RCB did not want to take a risk. They informed us that there would be no practice session. Rajasthan Royals were also informed about the development, but they had no problems going ahead with their practice," he added.
