Welcome one and all, we are live for the coverage of Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore from Mumbai.
RCB has won the toss and decided to field first.
Background
Thursday will see Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) take on the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium will host the match at 7:30 pm IST. The head-to-head record between RR and RCB is 10-10, thus there’s no room to separate the two teams in that department. In IPL 2020 in the UAE, RR lost both the matches that they played against RCB.
As expected, Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to field first. The team batting second wins more matches than the team batting first at the Wankhede.
The match will be played on pitch number 7 at the Wankhede where matches 2 and 4 were played in this year's IPL. 800+ runs were scored in these two matches. Thus, been today, the pitch is said to be a belter. Simon Doull's pitch report showed how the pitch has even covering of grass and very little moisture in the pitch. The ball will come onto the bat nicely and spinners would come into play.
RCB will be bagging on it's middle order consisting of Glenn Maxwell, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. RCB have won all the three matches they have played so far. They will reclaim the top spot on the IPL 2021 points table if they win today.
Rajasthan Royals, on the other hand, will look to improve their recent record against RCB. David Miller and Jos Buttler must step up to fill his shoes in the batting department. It will be a tricky job for Samson to pick his four bowlers. Nonetheless, he has some good options in the form of Sakariya, Unadkat, Gopal, and Mustafizur. Ben Stokes, Liam Livingstone and Jofra Archer are out with injury.
