Virat Kohli's Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) are yet to win a final of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) despite featuring in all 15 seasons of the world's richest franchise T20 league. RCB has had many star players in their team over the years and the closest they came to win an IPL title was in 2009, 2011 and 2016, but failed to cross the final hurdle, end the jinx.
During an exclusive interview with Jio Cinema, ex-Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) opener Chris Gayle made a shocking statement about the franchise’s inability to win an IPL final.
Speaking in a segment on JioCinema, Gayle said, "Sometimes, being one of the main players, being the main man of the franchise, I am always in my own zone, pretty much. What I understand when it comes from an RCB point of view is that a lot of players felt left out. A lot of players did not feel like they were a part of the franchise."
"It was like only three players were getting all the attention - myself, Virat, and AB. A lot of players, pretty much mentally, they were nowhere within the team. So that's always going to be a challenge to win a title," he added.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will play their first match in the 16th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) against Mumbai Indians at the Chinnasamy Stadium in Bengaluru on 2nd April. This year's IPL will begin on 31st March. The first match of the season will be played between defending champions Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings.
