Royal Challengers Bangalore retained a solid core in Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, and Mohammed Siraj. They added some particularly strong options, especially on the bowling front, during the auction. They've got Harshal Patel, Josh Hazlewood and Wanindu Hasaranga as likely starters, but also the likes of Jason Behrendorff and David Willey as back-ups.

Purse entered: INR 57 crore

Purse left: INR 1.55 crore

Biggest buys: Harshal Patel (INR 10.75 crore), Wanindu Hasaranga (INR 10.75 crore) Josh Hazlewood (INR 7.75 crore)

Faf du Plessis does add value as a potential captaincy candidate, an outstanding fielder, and someone who can anchor the innings and let produce a free-stroking version of Kohli. The duo of AB and Virat has been broken up and it is yet to be seen how they fill that void.

The middle order is a bit lacking, with two of the spots potentially occupied by Rawat and one of Mahipal Lomror or Luvnith Sisodia. That would mean extra responsibility for  Maxwell and Dinesh Karthik who did not have a stellar 2021 season. There could be too much of reliance on Maxwell who had a good 2nd half of IPL 2021 but his batting record in India is nothing to boast about.
