The Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008. Ever since the inaugural edition of the competition, the league has not only changed the way the sport is played but has contributed sigtnificantly to the earnings of the players. Three legends of Indian cricket in particular- Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have gained the maximum cumulative salary from the cash-rich league since 2008 to 2024.


The three giants of Indian cricket have played in every season of the competition since 2008 and have drawn the highestsalary combined over these 17 years. Rohit has been with the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise since 2011.

Rohit Sharma On Top Of The Highest Earners' IPL List


He has been a consistent performer with the bat and as a leader has been extraordinary, helping the franchise win 5 titles. He is the highest cumulative earner in the history of the IPL, having drawn a total salary of 178.6 crores over 17 seasons, as confirmed in a report carried by Inside Sport.


However, captain cool MS Dhoni of the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) isn't too far in the earnings list either. Dhoni, who is on par with Rohit Sharma as far as number of IPL titles are concerned, has earned 176.8 crore over the 17 seasons of the tournament.

Virat Kohli Only Player To Play Every Season From 2008 To 2024 For Single Franchise


As far Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB)'s Virat Kohli is concerned, he is the only player to play in every season of the tournanent since 2008 for the same team. That might have cost him the top place in terms of overall ranking since he might have fetched a record-breaking feat if he had gone to the auction table. However, over 17 years, a sum of 173.2 crore isn't too bad, is it?
