Woah, there's another IPL fixture that has gone to the last over. But surely PBKS were the more dominant team. Post that spell from Arshdeep, innings from Sam Curran (63 off 47) and Livingstone (38* off 21) was enough for them to end on the winning side. The match will also be remembered for Pant's return and Abishek Porel's brilliant cameo worth 32 off 10 which ultimately went in vain.
Punjab win by 4 wickets! They get off the mark on the points table. Livingstone finishes it off with a maximum.
Two Wickets In Two Balls! Khaleel Ahmed after a not so good outing with the ball returns with 2 wickets in 2 balls. First the in-form Curran whose stumps are rattled and he walks back for 63 off 47 before Shashank Singh is bounced out. PBKS- 167/6 after 18.4 overs.
Marsh Concedes 18 runs off his fourth over, not his day with the ball for sure as he finishes with 4 overs, 0 for 52. PBKS- 165/4 after 18 overs. They need 10 from 12 balls
Fifty And Counting For Curran. Gets to a half-century and Punjab are now running away with the match.

Wow, big over that for PBKS. Livingstone hitting the final ball of the over for a six to fetch 18 runs from it. PBKS- 130/4 after 15 overs.
Marsh Returns. They are a bowler short after Ishant walked back and Marsh isn't seeming a lot effective as of now. He has conceded 2 boundaries off his first three balls with Curran hitting one through the off side before hitting one on the leg-side.
Kuldeep To Bowl Out then. 14th over of the innings. Concedes just 4 singles off his 4 overs and 2 wickets to his credit. Almost a third as well in the final over before Stubbs put a catch down off Curran. PBKS- 112/4 after 14 overs.

Kuldeep gets his man. He has his second wicket of the match. Jitesh Sharma trying a reverse, loses his balance and Pant affects a smart stumping. PBKS- 100/4 after 11.3 Overs. Sharma falls for 9 off 9.

Spinners at both ends for DC. Axar and Kuldeep. Axar gives away 7 runs off the 7th over before an 8-run over from the eighth over including a boundary off the bat of Curran. After 8 overs, PBKS-75/2. Sam Curran- 20* off 17, Prabhsimran Singh- 20* off 12.

Not a good sight as Ishant Sharma walks off injured. He twisted his ankle at midwicket while trying to stop the ball. Will we see him further in the season? The pacer looks in pain.

This time it's Dhawan against his fellow Delhi player Ishant Sharma. Charges to him before this beautifully timed shot through point for a boundary. Eight coming off the second over. PBKS- 25/0 after 2 overs.
Dhawan and Bairstow open for Punjab. What a start this has been already. Who says Dhawan has been out of action? He smashes Khaleel Ahmed for a couple of boundaries off the first over of the innings after which Baristow follows suit. PBKS- 17/0 after the 1st over.

A good start from DC followed by a passage of play dominated by PBKS before an impactful finish from Porel. Shai Hope (33 off 25) was the individal top-scorer while David Warner (29 off 21), Mitchell Marsh (20 off 12) also chipped in with handy contributons. Arshdeep Singh picked 2 for 28 and Harshal Patel had picked 2 and was having a decent game before he went for 25 in his last over to finish with 2/47 off his 4. That's that then as Abhishek Porel gets a single and non-striker Kuldeep gets run out, trying for that extra run off the last over. 25 runs off the last over from Harshal. Porel finishes with an unbeaten 32* off 10 which takes DC to 174/9. PBKS need 175 to win.

Rabada into his final over but Axar is not going down without a fight. He has used the extra pace for a cut which goes the distance. Much needed for DC.

PBKS are tightening the screws now. Brar comes in and gets rid of Ricky Bhui with a ball that was going down leg. Initially siganlled a wide, PBKS went for a DRS as keeper Jitesh Sharma seemed convinced it had some bat on it. As it turns out, he was right and the umpire had to overturn his decision. Did not look at his fluent best did Rishabh Pant but a remarkable story of comeback really. It's a half-tracker from Chahar that Pant has pulled straight to midwicket but Harshal the fielder there seems to have lost it in the sun and the ball goes for four. Pant survives. 8 come off the over. DC-103/3 after 12 overs.

There's the wicket PBKS were after and it is Harshal who produces it off the last ball of his first over. It was a bouncer that had just taken the glove of Warner on its way to the keeper. Hello and Welcome everybody to ABP Live's Live Coverage of the IPL 2024 fixture between the Punjab Kings and the Delhi Capitals at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. The biggest story of the contest will be the return of Rishabh Pant as wicketkeeper-batter and as captain after survivng a near-fatal car crash in December 2022. From fearing an amputation on his leg to going on to lead DC in the biggest cricket league in the world, is some story already.
How Pant performs on the pitch will be a different tale altogether. Both these teams have been competing in the tournament since its inaugural edition, have had a change in their name but not a change in their fortunes with the sides yet to have their hands on the trophy. Will it be different this year? We shall find out in due course as PBKS vs DC launches the 36th venue of the IPL.
For Punjab, it will be Shikhar Dhawan who will walk out at the toss. Away from the limelight of international cricket for a while and despite being one of the greats of India's limited-overs setup, it would be interesting to see how he approaches the final season before the mega-auction where chances are that his franchise might want to part ways with him, keeping an eye on the future.
All in all, things look set for a great clash with lots to look forward to.
