IPL 2021: KKR vs CSK was an extremely entertaining match. It was not for the weak-hearted. Pat Cummins of Kolkata Knight Riders almost took his side to victory. Although he was not able to take his team over the line, during his career-best T20 innings of not-out 66 runs in 34 balls, he became part of an elite list of players who have scored 30 or more runs in an over in IPL cricket.

Pat Cummins became only the sixth player to attain this record. Before Cummins Chris Gayle, Suresh Raina, Shaun Marsh, Virender Sehwag, and Rahul Tewatia had hit 30+ runs in one over. Chris Gayle has scored the highest 36 runs, while Raina is second with 30 runs. Rest all the players, like Cummins, have scored 30 runs in one over.

The CSK vs KKR game went down the wire, but KKR started in an extremely poor fashion. But the match really got interesting after the end of power play, when KKR had lost half their team and it looked like they would just get all out before the 15th over. KKR’s score at one point was 31/5. That’s when Andre Russell stepped up and scored a 21-ball fifty. Karthik was giving him good company by Russell misjudged a Sam Curran ball and got bowled from behind his legs. But that was not it, KKR’s real hopes came alive when Pat Cummins sent Curran for a 28 run over. Things got really tense and it all ended in an anti-climatic way for KKR as Prasidh Krishna got run out at the non-striker end taking a second run to put Cummins back on strike.

Cummins stayed not out and earned praise from fans and ex-cricketers alike.
