On a doubleheader Sunday, SRH finally clinched their first win by defeating Punjab Kings in the ongoing 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League. PBKS’ skipper even after playing a knock of 99 runs in just 66 balls, including 12 boundaries and five sixes, could not save his team at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

During his marathon knock of 99, Dhawan made partnerships with all the batters from the first to the 10th wicket. There was this one player, Mohit Rathee who created history by partnering with skipper Shikhar Dhawan. He only played 2 balls and scored 1 run but still, he was involved in an unbeaten 55-run partnership with Dhawan which was the highest stand for the 10th wicket in IPL history.

When Mohit came out to bat, Punjab was reeling at  9 wickets for 88 runs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Post that, he stood there at the crease and supported his skipper Shikhar Dhawan till the end and helped his side post a decent total of  143 runs.

Who is Mohit Rathee?

Mohit Rathee is a 24-year-old all-rounder who plays for Services in the domestic circuit. Just five months ago, he made his first-class debut against Jharkhand in Jamshedpur. As of now, he has played 4 first-class matches and scored 138 runs with the help of one fifty and has taken nine wickets too. Recently he made headlines after picking the wicket of Arjun Tendulkar who is the son of the great Sachin Tendulkar during the Ranji match against Goa.

Talking about the match, it was Rahul Tripathi's knock of 74 runs in just 48 balls that made a difference and snatched the game from Punjab's mouth. Tripathi also built a 100-run partnership with his skipper Markram and helped SRH win the game with 8 wickets remaining and 17 balls to spare. Wrist spinner Mayank Markande was the star with the ball for SRH as he picked 4 wickets after giving away just 15 runs.
