IPL 2022: Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) party workers attacked and vandalised a bus that was being used in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 on Tuesday night. The vandalised vehicle was to be used as a team bus by Delhi Capitals.

A case was registered at the Colaba police station in Mumbai after which the Mumbai Police took MNS's Prashant Gandhi, Santosh Jadhav, and another person in custody.

Meanwhile, ANI reported that five people have been arrested by Colaba police under sections 143,147,149,427 of IPC.

The attack was carried out by Maharashtra Vahatuk Sena - transport wing of MNS - for allegedly ignoring local bus traders. Sources say that the MNS workers were irked as the contract to pick-up and drop IPL players were not given to a local trader.

The Raj Thackeray-led MNS has always had a 'Marathi-first' agenda since its inception in 2006.

From the images above, we can figure out that the vandalised bus belonged to the Delhi Capitals side as DC's motto 'We Roar Together' was written on the glass of the bus.

The IPL is set to begin from the last week of March. All the matches of IPL 2022 will be played at three stadiums in Mumbai - Wankhede, Brabourne & DY Patil - and one stadium in Pune - MCA Stadium. Thus, the teams would be making extensive use of bus transport during the course of the entire tournament.
