None of the other RR batters managed to score even 20, such was Jaiswal's impact in this innings. His knock included 16 fours and 8 sixes. Background
It will be the Mumbai Indians (MI) up against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in match number 42 of IPL 2023. The match is set to be played at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both these teams find themselves in contrasting positions at this stage of the tournament.
While the last year's runners up are at the second place with 5 wins from 8 matches and a net run rate of +0.939, MI are the second last in the ten-team table with 3 victories from 7 fixtures and a net run rate of -0.60.
However, RR would want to dominate this match to build the momentum going forward in the second half of the league stage, things are still in the hands of MI as far as a chance to proceed further in the competition is concerned.
For that though, they would want to register a win over RR in this match which they have decided to dedicate to their captain Rohit Sharma who turns 36 today. In addition, the franchise will also celebrate 10 years of Rohit- the MI captain. That will be another reason the franchise would want to win this fixture.
As far as their most recent fixtures are concerned, MI lost their last two matches before heading into this game while RR won their most recent fixture against CSK after losing a game to RCB.
All and all, the match has all the ingredients of producing a blockbuster of a match and it will be interesting to see whether it's the home team or the away side that has the last laugh this evening.
