The MI skipper brought his best wicket-taking bowler Jasprit Bumrah  into the attack to put a halt on the run-flow and the speedster did exactly what he is known for. Bumrah cleaned up Pooran for 24 shortly after Chris Gayle's exit. Glenn Maxwell was the new man in as he joined KL Rahul in the run-chase. After Maxwell departed for zero, Jasprit Bumrah bowled an unplayable yorker to clean up KL Rahul for 77 and pull back Mumbai back into the game.

Trent Boult gave just eight runs in the last over to force their match against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) to a Super Over. KXIP ended their innings on 176/6, which was exactly the score that MI managed.
