In what comes as a massive blow for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), their star pacer Mayank Yadav, who isn't playing today's LSG vs DC IPL 2024 match number 26, is unlikely to play his team's next match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Sunday (April 14). It is expected that Mayank might return to action in LSG vs CSK IPL 2024 match on Friday (April 19).

Why Mayank Yadav isn't playing Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) IPL 2024 match?

Rising pace-bowling star Mayank Yadav sustained an injury during Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) IPL 2024 match against Gujarat Titans (GT) on Sunday (April 7). He left the ground after bowling just one over against GT, citing discomfort in his lower abdominal region. The injury has forced him to miss LSG vs DC IPL 2024 match and he might even miss LSG's next match against KKR on Sunday (April 14).

What LSG coach Justin Langer said on Mayank Yadav's injury: "He felt a little bit of tightness at the top of his hip leading into the last game, but that was about a one-out-of-ten pain, and we thought that there were clinical signs," coach Langer said in a presser.

"Everything through the doctors and the physios seemed perfectly okay. He bowled that first over [against Titans] and started feeling something in his hip."

Why Mayank Yadav Matters?

Lucknow Super Giants' (LSG) Mayank Yadav made a dream in Indian Premier League (IPL). The rising LSG star picked three-wicket hauls in his first two IPL matches. Mayank's ability to consistently hit almost 150 KPH grabbed eyeballs. Many fans have even voiced out that he is one of the strong uncapped players to get picked in India's T20 World Cup 2024 squad.

Mayank Yadavs absence is a big setback for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The KL Rahul-led team is in solid position at the moment, winning back-to-back four IPL matches and don't wish to lose momentum by losing against DC, today.
