Ahead of the IPL 2023, the Kolkata-based franchise launched their new jersey for the upcoming season. On Sunday, Kolkata Knight Riders took to their official Twitter handle to share the news. The team has still followed its usual pattern of purple and gold colors.
"Making a statement yet again, in Purple & Gold! #AmiKKR #KKR #IPL2023," tweeted KKR.
Kolkata will kickstart their IPL 2023 campaign by playing against Punjab Kings on April 1 at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium, Mohali.
Their first home match will be taking place on April 6 where they will lock horns against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the iconic Eden Gardens. During the last season of the cash-rich league, Kolkata finished the season by standing at seventh place in the points table with six wins, eight losses and 12 points in their 14 games. They could not make it to the playoffs.

According to reports, KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss this season of IPL as he is still struggling with his lower back injury. He did not come out to bat in the recently finished fourth Test against Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. He might be going for back surgery which will take a period of four-five months to recuperate.
