KKR vs RCB, IPL 2023 HIGHLIGHTS: Kolkata Thump Bangalore By 81 Runs To Register First Win
KKR vs RCB: Shardul Thakur and the spinners were the stars of Kolkata's dominant win.
KKR WIN BY 81 RUNS. Varun Chakravarthy gets the last wicket. He scalps 4 for 15 in the end. What a match and what a performance by KKR after they were 89/5.
KKR nearing a win here. RCB- 96/9. Three wicket each for Varun and Impact Player Suyash Sharma. 2 for Narine and 1 for Shardul.
Shardul gets a wicket now! Bracewell departs for 19 off 18. Just a managed glove on that pull shot but it carried to short fine leg where captain Rana took a fine catch. RCB: 83/6 in 11.3 overs.
Dinesh Karthik and Michael Bracewell out in the middle for Bangalore. They are both capable batters but the required run rate has gone past 14. The team needs 127 runs in 54 balls.
Shahbaz Ahmed GOES! Another one down for RCB. It's spin again as Narine gets his wicket. RCB- 61/5 in 8.5 overs. They need 144 runs in 67 balls.
THREE WICKETS IN NO TIME FOR KKR! It's Varun Chakravarthy who has picked all three and bowled each of Faf du Plessis, Glenn Maxwell and Harshal Patel in 2 overs. RCB- 54/4 after 8 overs.
WICKET!!! Sunil Narine gets Kohli after blistering RCB start. Bangalore- 44/1 after 4.5 overs. The spinner has bowled the ex-RCB skipper.
Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli- the men in form open the batting for Bangalore. Umesh Yadav and Tim Southee with sharing new ball for Kolkata. RCB- 12/0 after 2 overs.
END OF INNINGS. KKR GO PAST 200. What a turnaround led by Shardul's effort who scored 68 off 29. KKR were 89/5, they end up with 204/7.
Singh departs for 46 off 33, last ball of the 19th over. KKR- 192/6. Shardul still out there- 63* off 26.
100 of the partnership between Shardul and Rinku off just 48 balls. Surely massive room for improvement for Bangalore in the death overs.
What an innings from Shardul. Joint-fastest half-century by him in this season off 20 balls.
Shardul Thakur's knock has changed things here for the Kolkata Knight Riders. He is batting from 47 off 19 which he has accumulated with the help of 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. KKR: 147/5 after 16 overs. Rinku Singh the batter with him out in the middle.
Karn Sharma gets two in two! Another double-wicket over for RCB. He removes Gurbaz for 44-ball 57 before getting the wicket of Andre Russell for a golden duck.
KKR- 94/5 after 12 overs.
Rahmanullah Gurbaz looking good for KKR. He is approaching his half-century. Rinku Singh the man accompanying him at the moment.
Great knock this from Gurbaz. He brings up his half-century with his third six which have been complemented by six fours in this innings so far.
WICKET! And it is KKR captain Rana who is walking back after a DRS from RCB. Bangalore aren't doing too much wrong here. Michael Bracewell gets the wicket. Rana tried to reverse sweep him first ball but managed to glove it before Karthik took a fine catch. On-field umpire had given it not out.
KKR- 47/3 in 6.1 overs.
Double wicket over from Willey! What a replacement for RCB. Du Plessis called his addition a forced change due to an injury to Topley but boy he is making the difference in this match. He has removed Venkatesh Iyer and Mandeep Singh off successive deliveries. Both of them bowled. KKR- 26/2 after 4 overs. Captain Nitish Rana and Gurbaz out in the middle for the home team.
David Willey to share the new ball with Siraj after 9 came off the opening over including 5 wides.
Venkatesh Iyer, Rahmanullah Gurbaz Open the innings for the home team. Mohammed Siraj with the new ball in hand for Bangalore.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of match number 9 of IPL 2023 set to be played between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. We will be updating the toss and team news in just a bit. STAY TUNED!
Background
Kolkata Knight Riders do not have a star-studded batting as Royal Challengers Bangalore which means a lot of their chances in their face off against the Faf du Plessis-led side will depend on the duo of Andre Russell and Sunil Narine. Even though with Shreyas Iyer ruled out due to an injury and Shakib Al Hasan pulling out due to international commitments, the franchise did sign Jason Roy precisely to add some weightage to their top-order batting but he won't be able to join them for this game.
On the other hand, Bangalore's spine is their top-order batting with the likes of Virat Kohli and Du Plessis up there at the top with Glenn Maxwell also coming in somewhere in the top 4, depending upon the situation of the game. Both are superb against pace bowling and t would be interesting how they tackle the spin of Narine and Varun Chakravarthy. Anukul Roy could be another spinner Bangalore can face in this fixture.
If spinners can get through the famed trio of Bangalore, we have a game on much like Narine single-handedly did so in IPL 2021 Eliminator. However, this time around the situation is different, Bangalore are coming off a win and Kolkata lost their season opener against Punjab and will play their first match at home this season.
Other than the known unavialability of Wanindu Hasaranga, Josh Hazlewood and Rajat Patidar, Reece Topley injured himself in their first game and will most likely be out for this game. David Willey can be a likely replacement. For Kolkata, Lockie Ferguson is recovering from an injury but might not play this game. Roy hasn't arrived yet and Litton Das will fly only after the end of Bangladesh's Test against Ireland.
Probable Playing XIs:
Kolkata: Mandeep Singh, Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper), Anukul Roy, Venkatesh Iyer, Nitish Rana (captain), Rinku Singh, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Shardul Thakur, Umesh Yadav, Tim Southee
Bangalore: Faf du Plessis (captain), Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell, Michael Bracewell, Dinesh Karthik (wickekeeper), Suyash Prabhudessai, Shahbaz Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Akash Deep, David Willey, Karn Sharma
