KKR vs RCB HIGHLIGHTS, IPL 2024: Kolkata Beat Bengaluru By 1 Run In Last-Ball Thriller
IPL 2024, KKR vs RCB HIGHLIGHTS: In a match that went all the way down to the wire, KKR beat RCB by 1 run.
And Breathe. KKR, who go to the second place on the table, had a tough time beating RCB, at rock bottom. That explains why IPL is arguably the best cricket league in the world. 222/6 is what KKR managed. 221/10 is what RCB got. Almost got home, did RCB but not quite as their poor run continues. Jack and Patidar almost made it a walk in the park for RCB before KKR lost 4 wickets in 2 overs but then RCB found a way back into the match but eventually fell a run short.
That's it from our coverage of this game. Head over to the PBKS vs GT Live Blog where Punjab have elected to bat first.
KKR WIN BY A RUN. Ferguson looks to get back for the second but is caught short of the crease. KKR win by a run. RCB lose sixth in a row. What a match. What a contest.
And a wicket. Caught and bowled. Great catch from Starc in his follow through. Karn departs for 20 off 7. RCB need 3 runs in 1 ball. They are 220/9.
THIRD SIX IN THE OVER. Is this a cricket match or what? Karn's third six and now RCB need 3 off 2.
Karn Sharma!!! Would you believe it? It's a width on offer again and Sharma smashes the second six off the over.
15 off 4 now. Edged that didn't carry.
Mitchell Starc has conceded a six first ball off the last over. It's Karn Sharma who keeps the excitment alive in this match. It's over point, using the pace and width on offer from the Aussie. 15 off 5 now for RCB.
DK falls. KKR- RCB: 202/8 Is this the game for KKR? RCB need 21 runs from 6 balls.
SIX followed by a dot and then a BOUNDARY. DK keeps RCB alive after turning down a single. RCB need 21 runs in 7 balls.
It's a SIX. Is this a little too late? Over the fielder at midwicket for a maximum from DK. RCB now need 25 off 9.
Russell will bowl the 19th.
Rana concedes just 6 and takes a wicket in thar over. Another match slipping away from RCB. They now need 31 runs from 12 balls. Dinesh Karthik-15* off 12, Karn Sharma- 2* off 2.
Karn Sharma is the new Man in for RCB.
Harshit Rana gets the wicket. Prabhudessai probably had to go for the big one at this stage but it's a slower one from Rana and the batter fails to clear the field. Gets caught at long-off. RCB- 187/7 after 17.2 Overs as Impact Sub gets out for 24 off 18. DK the last recognised batter now, perhaps the lone man stannding between KKR and a win.
Chakravarthy Bowls Out. Concedes only 5 runs off the final over of his spell. Prabhudessai did find the fence but RCB only manage 5 off the over. RCB need 37 runs from 18 balls. RCB- 186/6 after 17 overs.
RCB need 42 off 24. DK vs Varun Chakravarthy who will bowl the 17th over.
Good Over For KKR despite a DK boundary through backward point. RCB manage 7 off it. They are 181/6 after 16 overs. They need 42 runs off 24 deliveries.
Rana Returns for a second spell.
10 runs off the over with the help of a boundary off the bat of Prabhudessai against Varun Chakravarthy. RCB- 174/6 after 15 overs. They need 49 runs off 30 balls
Dinesh Karthik Joins Prabhudessai. Will we see a DK special or will KKR hold on to a win from here?
KKR has swung the match in their favour and how. First a double-wicket over from Russell followed by a double-wicket over from Narine. The spinner gets rid of Cameron Green who had just smashed a six a ball ago but tries to go for another big one and gets caught in the deep. And Then Mahipal Lomror, who found the fence on the previous ball before chipping one straight back to the bowler after being deceived by the variation from Narine. The West Indian spinner finishes with figures of 4 overs, 2 for 34. RCB- 155/6 after 13 overs. 10 runs, 2 wickets from that over.
Impact Sub Suyash Prabhudessai and Cameron Green the RCB batters out in the middle.
Wow! First Jacks gets holed out, trying to clear long on getting out for 55 off 32 before Patidar gets a leading edge and is caught at backward point for 52 off 23. Both the set batters back in the pavilion. RCB are suddenly 138/4 after 11.4 Overs.
It's a 21-ball half-century for Patidar. Even Narine isn't safe against Patidar who is back in form and in some style. Two sixes against Narine, one just over long on before a maximum over midwicket. 15 runs off the over. RCB- 137/2 after 11 overs. They need 86 runs from 54 balls.
2 More Boundaries In The Over. It's All Patidar in this over. A six over deepmidwicket before the bowler goes full but Patidar finds a way to get it through the gap and time it well enough for a boundary. 22 runs coming off it. RCB- 122/2 after 10 overs. They need 101 runs from 60 balls with 8 wickets in hand.
FOUR and A SIX. First one through long on then over midwicket. 10 off first 2 balls from this Suyash over.
Jacks making some impact. He has got to a half-century off 29 balls. A SIX and a FOUR off that Chakravarthy over after a SIX from Patidar in the previous over from Suyash. After 9 overs, RCB- 100/2. They need 123 runs from 66 deliveries.
Suyash Sharma in for Rinku Singh for KKR.
And a boundary to end the over. 22 runs off the over. RCB might have lost their openers but they are 74/2 after 6 overs.
Jacks is doing exactly what his team needs. Can he continue this onslaught for a bit? He has smashed Starc for a third six in the over. This time he makes room and goes over long off for a maximum.
SIXES off the first two balls of the sixth over. Welcome back Starc, says Will Jacks. Some hits those. Both over deep midwicket. RCB past 60 already.
Rajat Patidar joins Jacks in the middle.
Both the RCB openers back in the pavilion now. Varun Chakravarthy replaced Starc and gets a wicket first ball. It's a length ball that Du Plessis looks to hit over infield. However, he doesn't get the elevation and it's a good catch from Venkatesh Iyer. Du Plessis out for 7 off 7. RCB- 35/2 after 3.1 Overs.
Will Jacks replaces Kohli who fell for 18 off 7.
Virat Kohli is OUT! But he is not pleased. It's a height full toss which he has hit straight back to the bowler. While Kohli reckons this is a no-ball, third umpire has ruled it a fair delivery as the batter was outside the crease and the ball was dipping and had he been inside the crease, it would have crossed on or below the waist height. Kohli is not happy but KKR fans celebrate along with the team. Massive moment this as Harshit Rana gets a wicket. RCB- 27/1 after 2.1 Overs.
Bengaluru have gotten off to a superb start. Kohli with a massive six before a last-ball boundary from Du Plessis makes it 15 off the second over. RCB- 27/0 after 2 overs.
Mitchell Starc is sharing the new ball with Harshit for KKR. This is the first time that Starc hasn't bowled the first over this season.
Harshit Rana bowls the first over. Concedes 12 runs. A Kohli FOUR and a Du Plessis SIX to get things underway for RCB. They are 12/0 after the opening over.
RCB's run-chase begins. It's Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis who open the batting for Bengaluru.
Time for a breather as we come back with the chase. Big chase coming ahead for RCB. Cameron Green was the pick of the bowlers for Bengaluru, with figures of 2/35 and also scalping an important catch. Who will be their hero with the bat or will Sunil Narine make the difference with the ball for KKR? We shall find out over the course of the next hour and a bit.
It's worked towards the third-man area for a boundary from Ramandeep who has made a bigger impact in this inings that Russell. He finishes with 9-ball 24. KKR POST 222/6 at the Eden Gardens. Andre Russell- 27* off 20. Not to forget Shreyas Iyer's 50 off 36, Rinku Singh's 24 off 16 after Phil Salt's blistering 48 off 14.
Successive Boundaries to begin the 20th over from Russell before he goes off strike with a single off a yorker.
Dayal To Bowl FInal Over of the innings. Andre Russell to face.
Over Rate Penalty For RCB. Only 4 fileders inside the circle
Better finish to the over from Siraj. KKR still get 20. They are past 200. KKR-206/6 after 19 overs.
It's Ramandeep who has gone bang bang. It's the penultimate over of the innings and the Indian batter has SMASHED SIX, FOUR, FOUR off the first three balls.
Russell ends the over with a boundary. KKR-186/6. 9 runs, 1 wicket coming off the over.
Shreyas Iyer falls. Faf du Plessis takes the catch at long off as Iyer falls for 50 off 36. The batter felt that he had hit it good enough but Du Plessis makes good ground and takes a great catch to end the KKR captain's innings. KKR- 179/6 after 17.2 Overs.
Green To Bowl Over Number 18. Crucial phase of the game this.
And A Four To End The Over. Drilled down the ground once again. FIFTY COMES UP FOR SHREYAS IYER who completes a half-century off 35 deliveries. KKR- 177/5 after 17 overs. 22 runs off the over.
And a six down the ground to make the over worse for Dayal. 18 off the over already after Shreyas Iyer clears the long-off boundary.
A Full toss from Dayal, wide down the leg which beats the keeper and goes for four before ultimately being called a no-ball. Massive gift for KKR.
This could be the over that KKR look to make big as Russell starts the 17th with a boundary off Dayal.
And now it's Lockie who bowls out. A boundary-less over. Six singles off it. KKR- 155/5 after 16 overs. Ferguson ends spell with figures of 1/47. Remember 28 came off his first over alone with Phil Salt taking him to the cleaners.
Karn Sharma concedes 7 runs off his final over. Shreyas Iyer's reverse-sweep finding the boundary in the over. After 15 overs, KKR-149/5. Karn finishes off with figures of 4 overs, 0 for 33.
Surely a total of over 200 runs would be a minimum that KKR would be targetting from here.
Eden Gardens roars in joy as Andre Russell survives. It's a caught behind off a full toss but it's reviewed for a waist-height full toss and as it turns out, it was indeed a no-ball, otherwise would have been out for first ball and wickets off successive deliveries for RCB.
It's a passage of play that has belonged to RCB and it's culiminated in the wicket of Rinku Singh. The left-hander looks to hook the slower, short-pitch ball over fine leg but ends up gloving it straight to the man. KKR- 137/5 after 13.1 overs. Lockie Ferguson gets a wicket.
Time for Rinku Singh in the middle. He joins Shreyas.
It's Cameron Green who gets a wicket. He bangs one in short and gets rid of Venkatesh who has hooked one straight to the fielder at deep square leg. More top edge off the bat than the middle of it. KKR may be scoring at a good rate but they continue to lose wickets which could come back to haunt them in the latter stages of the innings. KKR-97/4 after 8.2 Overs.
At the fall of that wicket, it is Shreyas Iyer who has joined Venkatesh Iyer in the middle.
Dayal gets another but this is a wicket that belongs to Cameron fielder. Raghuvanshi looked to flick it over the in-field on the leg side but Cameron has pulled off a one-handed stunner. Holds on to a catch with his outstrecthed arm as he falls over. Wicket to end the powerplay. KKR- 75/3 after 6 overs. 12 runs and 2 wickets off that final over of the powerplay with Venkatesh Iyer finding two successive boundaries in the over.
It's a second wicket for RCB. The plan has worked for them. They had managed to keep Narine quiet and then enticed him to play a false stroke. Virat Kohli takes the catch at long on. Yash Dayal, who replaced Ferguson, gets a wicket. RCB- 66/2 after 5.2 Overs.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi walks in at 3 for KKR.
Siraj, who is into over number 3 inside the powerplay, takes a wicket. Gets rid of Salt who falls for 48 off 14. Trying to go for the big shot once again but finds the fielder does Salt. KKR- 56/1 after 4.2 overs.
6, 4, 4, 6, 4, 4- That's what has happened in the over. Only the second ball of the over where the batter wasn't in control as he inside edged that for a boundary. On all the other deliveries, the batter was in complete control. 28 runs off the over. 50 up in just the fourth over. KKR- 55/0 after 4 overs. Still 2 overs to go inside the powerplay.
It's Ferguson who replaces Dayal from the other end.
Narine, who had been kept quiet so far, finds the fence. The only scoring shot in the over. KKR- 27/0 after 3 overs.
It's Salt who has taken the aggressive route so far in this match. Back-to-back boundaries off his bat which allows the team to fetch 11 runs off the over. KKR- 23/0 after 2 overs.
Yash Dayal from the other end for Bengaluru.
Salt takes the attack to the opposition. A SIX and a FOUR in the first over itself from Salt. Siraj concedes 10 runs. Two leg byes. KKR- 12/0 after the 1st over.
Out come the KKR openers- Phil Salt and Sunil Narine. Mohammed Siraj has the new ball in hand for RCB.

It's a double-header in IPL 2024 this Sunday. KKR vs RCB is the first match of the day and we welcome all of you to our live coverage of what is match number 36 of the seventeenth edition of the Indian Premier League.
Background
KKR vs RCB Live Score, IPL 2024: Welcome everybody to a double-header in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who will take on Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the first of the twin IPL fixtures scheduled this Sunday. The match will be a home affair for KKR who have been one of the more consistent teams this season with four wins from six matches. They will be up against RCB, a side which hasn't got going at all and are at the rock bottom of IPL 2024 points table with a solitary win and 6 defeats from 7 matches.
IPL 2024 KKR vs RCB Live Score, Kolkata Knight Riders vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru: It's surely now or never for RCB who are on a five-match losing streak. With the tournament nearing its halfway mark, Bengaluru are running out of time to find a combination and strategy that works for them. While their bowling has been a concern, even some of their star batters like Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar haven't performed as well as they would have liked, especially the Australian who has had a horror run in the season.
On the other hand, Kolkata seem to have more bases covered that otherwise this season. A win here and they would move to the second place on the points table, a testimony to the remarkable brand of cricket they have played. The team is getting some rich divided for the years of faith that they have shown in Sunil Narine and Andre Russell. There is every reason to believe that with Gautam Gambhir as the mentor KKR can go on to achieve what they did with him as the captain.
All in all, this looks set to be a cracking contest with a team desperate for a win up against a team which has looked good together as a unit so far.
