Hello and Welcome to our live coverage of the IPL 2023 match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Gujarat Titans at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata. Toss and Team News coming in just a bit. STAY TUNED!
Background
It's a Super Saturday in the Indian Premier League (IPL). There will be two blockbuster games played in the day with the afternoon match set to be played between the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. This will be an exciting reverse fixture with the previous face off between the two teams best remembered for Rinku Singh's final over heroics where he smashed five sixes off the final five balls to help KKR snatch a win from the jaws of defeat.
While Gujarat would want to avenge that defeat in a match they lost after having almost pocketed the two points, KKR would want to build on the momentum, fresh from having completed a double over the Royal Challengers Bangalore.
The addition of Jason Roy at the top of the order has added a lot more soldity to their batting and with Andre Russell completing his quota of 4 overs and a big score dew from his bat apart from their spin attack, the team finally seems to have found a winning formula- bat first, put runs on the board and then strangle the opposition with spin.
On the other hand, Gujarat have been the more consistent of the two teams which is evident from their standings at the points table as they have 5 out of 7 wins and they find themselves at the third place in the points table. This is in sharp contrast to Kolkata who have won just 3 matches out of their 8 games and are at the seventh place.
In their most recent fixture, GT too are coming on the back of a win. They beat Mumbai Indians by 55 runs and have ticked more boxes than not in the buildup to this game. But with KKR's 1 of three wins having coming against this opposition they will feel confident of their chances at home against a side they have beaten once before this season.
Kolkata's hot and humid conditions await this high-voltage encounter.
