Match number 45 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 ended without any result due to rain. While the toss and the start of the match had been slightly delayed owing to the downpour, once the match started no overs had been lost. It looked like there will be a full match on the cards with the majority of first innings being completed without any rain interruption.

However, a drizzle came into the final over of the LSG batting innings and the umpires were forced to call the covers. After a brief interruption, covers were removed before rain returned and covers had to be brought back on. Eventually, the play couldn't be resumed before the cut-off time and both the participating teams were awarded a point each.

During the rain interruption though, LSG's fielding coach Jonty Rhodes was seen helping the ground staff to bring the covers on. The video of the former South African cricketer helping the groundstaff was shared on the league's official social media handle.

"@JontyRhodes8 to the rescue 😃👌🏻 . No shortage of assistance for the ground staff in Lucknow," the video was captioned.

Meanwhile, a rain-affected match ending without a result has now made things more interesting in the IPL 2023 points table. While there were five team tied at 10 points before this game, now three teams are left behind at 10 points with both LSG and CSK now at 11 points from 10 matches. However, LSG's net run rate is better than that of CSK which is why they are ranked second with the Men in Yellow placed at the third place.

Gujarat Titans (GT) continue to be at the top of the points table with 12 points from 9 matches.
