Even though there were rumours that Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have entered into a trade negotiation with Mumbai Indians (IPL) ahead of the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League (IPL), all of them were laid to rest by a CSK team official who refuted the trade rumours outrigh. Kasi Viswanathan, who is the CEO of CSK, said that they do not like to trade players as a matter of team principle and neither do they intend to do so.

Viswanathan's remark comes after there were several reports which suggested a feeling of unrest within the MI camp post Hardik Pandya's appointment as the captain. Reports had claimed that the move had led a few players look for different franchises. There were claims being made that CSK is one team which has approached MI for a trade possibility. However, Viswanathan outrightly rejected the proposition.

MS Dhoni To Lead CSK In IPL 2024

Even though MI removed their five-time IPL-winning skipper at 36 to look for a transition within the team, CSK have not only retained their captain who is already 42 but will stick with him as the captain for another season.

"We have had succession plans for MS for about 10 years," Fleming said.

"It is going to be a talking point., but he is as engaged and as enthusiastic as I have seen him for a while. While that passion is there for the team and franchise, we'll roll on," the ex-New Zealand captain, who was there at the IPL Auction 2024 in Dubai, answered in response to a question posed by a reporter.
