Ishan Kishan set the stage on fire as he scored a blistering century on his debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season opener against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 23 (Sunday) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad. Kishan, who came to bat after the dismissal of opener Abhishek Sharma, slammed the century in just 45 balls. Notably, Ishan Kishan was let go by Mumbai Indians in the IPL 2024 season and was acquired by SRH for INR 11.25 crore.
With the century, Ishan Kishan became the first Indian batter to score a ton for Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL history. Kishan's century also marks the first century of the IPL 2025 season. He remained not out on 16 off 47 balls, with 11 fours and six sixes. SRH, batting first, ended with a mammoth total of 286-6 in 20 overs.

Ishan Kishan expressed delight after his maiden IPL century, saying it had been a long time coming. He credited the team management and captain for backing him with freedom and confidence, and praised Abhishek and Head for their strong start.
“Feels good, it was coming for a while. Wanted to get this last season but happy to get that first hundred. The team has put their faith in me, and I want to do my best for them. The captain has given us all a lot of freedom and confidence, hats off to the management. When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout. The pitch was looking good and we were just trying to get them under pressure. We need to be on point with the ball, keep it simple. Rajasthan bowlers are good but if we bowl in the right areas and to the plans, we should be good,” said Ishan Kishan in the mid-inning break.
