Delhi Capitals (DC) have decided to retain Rishabh Pant for Indian Premier League (IPL) IPL 2025 season, Cricbuzz reported. There had been speculations about the possibility of the franchise releasing him ahead of auction.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to announce the IPL retention rules for 2025 season. However, sources from Delhi Capitals have confirmed to Cricbuzz that Rishabh is at the top of their retention list.

The wicket-keeper batter was first retained by Delhi Capitals for INR 16 crore during IPL 2022 mega auction, but his salary could see an increase this time. This is primarily due to increased purse value for all franchises.

If BCCI establishes a rule permitting teams to retain five players, Delhi Capitals could retain Rishabh Pant along with Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Jack Fraser McGurk, and Tristan Stubbs. In addition to Pant, Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav are reportedly top priorities for Delhi in their retention plans.

Following his 'life-threatning' car accident in 2022, Rishabh Pant returned to the field during IPL 2024.

Since his return, Pant has shown the same agility as before. He has not only excelled with the bat but has also impressed behind the wicket. Scoring a century in his comeback Test, Pant proved that he is fully ready to take on any challenge.

Rishabh Pant's leadership will be essential for Delhi Capitals in IPL 2025. He is also the franchise's all-time leading run-scorer, with a total of 3,284 runs.
