The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 Playoffs berths are sealed with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) set to be the four teams set to compete in the business end of the competition.

However, there are still two matches remaining in the league stage of IPL 2024 and one may choose to wonder why to watch these matches when the final four are set in concrete.

Having said that even though the four teams are ready, there will still be a few things at stake when these matches get underway on Sunday (May 19). The first of the twin clashes witnesses Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) up against the Punjab Kings (PBKS).

While PBKS are out of the race to the Playoffs and SRH are already through, a win in this game would give SRH the best chance to try and finish for a place in the top two.

Notably, a place in the final two will mean that SRH play Qualifier 1 instead of the Eliminator, giving them another crack at securing a place in the final, in case they experience a slip up the first time.

On the other hand, Eliminator will be a knock out fixture, with the losing team out of title race.

SRH will not only have to win but also hope that Rajasthan Royals (RR) lose to Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the other fixure scheduled on the day in order to claim a place in Qualifier 1 and meet KKR.

In case both SRH and RR win their respective games, it will be RR vs KKR in Qualifier 1 and RCB vs SRH in the Eliminator.

Jitesh Sharma To Lead PBKS in IPL 2024 Match vs SRH

Meanwhile, it will be a new captain for PBKS in this match with Shikhar Dhawan continuing to recover from an injury and Sam Curran, the vice-captain who had been stepping in for Dhawan for the majority of the season, having flown back to England. In their absence, the team has trusted Jitesh Sharma to lead the team in their final IPL 2024 fixture.
