Rajasthan beat Lucknow by 20 runs. They have managed to restrict LSG to 173/6 despite Pooran's 64 off 41.
Two Dots and SINGLE to follow. 3 ball, 24 to win. So game to RR really from here, unless something dramatic happens.
2 Wides to begin with. Wow, LSG still have a chance, mathematically.
11 runs coming off the 19th over. LSG- 167/6. Need 27 from 6 balls despite a boundary off the last ball from Pooran.
Last 2 overs, 38 needed off last 2 overs. Pandya and Pooran in the middle. Pooran has crossed a fifty and will be the key.
Ashwin STRIKES!! He gets rid of Stoinis who is holed out at deep midwicket. What an over for a spinner who wasn't having the best of days. 4 runs and a wicket. LSG- 156/6 after 18 overs. They need 38 runs from 12 balls.
WICKET!! Big fish KL Rahul back in the pavilion. It's Sandeep Sharma who gets his wicket. Trying to clear the fence but finds the fielder. Rahul falls for 58 off 44. LSG- 145/5 after 16.1 Overs.
Chahal has replaced Ashwin. Quite possible the equation as Pooran looks in sublime form. He has found a SIX yet again off the over. 11 runs come off that over. 16 overs bowled. LSG-145/4 after 16 overs. They need 49 runs from 24 ball. Time OUT!
Goes for 5 off his first over. Interesting move this by RR captain. LSG-134/4. They need 60 runs from 30 deliveries.
Goes for 5 off his first over. Interesting move this by RR captain. LSG-134/4. They need 60 runs from 30 deliveries.
Ashwin delivers a better over. Goes for just 7.
Boult concedes 20 runs off his final over. It's Pooran who has taken him to cleaners. FOUR, SIX And FOUR off successive balls. After 13 overs, LSG- 122/4. They need 72 runs from 42 balls.
Ashwin returns. Rahul finds the fence in the over. They get 9 runs from the over. LSG- 102/4 after 12 overs. Ashwin's 2 overs have gone for 24.
Super over this for LSG. Rahul ups the ante. First a heave over midwicket for a six, then a chip over mid off before a ramp behind the stumps get 14 runs off the last three balls. 17 come off it, in totality. LSG believe they can pull of a win. LSG- 93/4 after 11 overs.
10 overs bowled. LSG-76/4. Pooran's six off Chahal ensured the team fetch 10 runs off the 10th. They need 118 runs from 60 balls.
Captain and vice-captain in the middle for LSG as Pooran joins Rahul.
Chahal strikes! Hooda back in the pavilion. Goes for the big one on a tossed-up ball from the spinner but doesn't get the desired connection. LSG lose their fourth. LSG-60/4 after 7.3 Overs.
Avesh Khan From The Other End. Goes for 10 off his first with Hooda smashing a six. LSG- 57/3 after 7 overs.
Ashwin Concedes 15 Runs off the final over of the powerplay. Five wides, then a six from Rahul off a sweep and four singles. That ends the powerplay. LSG- 47/3 after 6 overs.
Despite the wickets, a few boundaries coming in quick succession for LSG. A six and a four from Hooda off Burger before a boundary each from Hooda and Rahul off Boult in the next over. After 5 overs, LSG- 32/3.
Third one goes down. This time it's Nandre Burger who gets the better of Badoni who tried to clear mid-off but ends up giving a fairly easy catch to Buttler. LSG-11/3 after 3.1 overs.
Beautifully set up this from the left-arm pacer. He first bowls a bouncer that rams into the helmet and after Padikkal is cleared to play post a concussion check, he cleans up the batter with a fuller-length ball that hits the top of middle. RR- 10/2 after 2.2 overs.
LSG- 10/1. 4 leg-byes coming in this over.
Devdutt Padikkal in at number 3. Nandre Burger from the other end for RR.
We hadn't been away for long but it's Boult's first over and the Kiwi makes things happen. He has got rid of De Kock who had come out to open with Rahul. But this is a ball drifting down leg which he had played straight to the man deep on the leg side. De Kock falls for 4, which had scored through a boundary second ball. He is out off the 5th ball. LSG- 4/1 after 0.5 overs.
We will be back with the chase in just a bit. Thanks for staying tuned to ABP LIVE!
So what all did we see? RR won the toss, elected to bat and then got to 193/4. There were ebbs and flows in that innings though with Buttler and Jaiswal getting them off to a good start. Both departs inside the powerplay before that 93-run innings defining partnership Riyan Parag and Samson took place. When they were in full flow, RR looked set to go past 200. However, Parag and Hetmyer departed in quick succession and LSG had a good phase in the innings with part-timer Badoni also slipping in an over. Samson and Jurel later managed to get them past 190. RR captain finished with 82* off 52, an innings studded with 6 sixes. LSG need 194 to win.
RR FINISH AT 193/4. Samson the star with the bat for the inaugural champions as the captain finishes with an unbeaten 82 off 52 including a six in the final over. RR get 14 runs off the last over but at one stage looked set to go-past 200 run. LSG need 194 to win.
Mohsin Has The Ball In Hand for LSG for the 20th over.
8 runs off the 19th over then. Top stuff from Naveen. LSG would be happy with that over despite the two wides. Jurel was dropped off the final ball in which the batters picked 2 runs.
Naveen is bowling the penultimate over of the innings! One dot ball and two wides to begin with.
Thakur's ordinary day out continues. He oversteps and then the free-hit is an attempted yorker for which Samson is waiting for deep in the crease and smashes it straight down the ground for a six. 13 runs off the over. 18 overs bowled. RR- 171/4.
Almost a catch. Jurel goes for it but it's seemingly falling in no man's land. Naveen, stationed at long on, dives to get to the ball but ends up tipping it over the fence for a maximum. RR- 158/4 after 17 overs.
Bishnoi strikes. Brought the googly specialist on and he has got rid of the left-hander, out caught behind. 150/4 after 16.3 Overs.
Badoni Has A Bowl. Concedes 6 runs off his first. RR- 149/3 after 16 overs.
Shimron Hetmyer joins Samson in the middle after that 93-run stand was broken by Naveen.
And finally a wicket as Parag's pull is caught by Deepak Hood (sub fielder) in the deep. 14 had come off the over before a wicket on the fifth ball. A six and a boundary in that over from Parag before he gets out for 43 off 29. RR- 142/3 after 14.5 Overs. Time out!
Naveen back for a spell. LSG looking to break this partnership.
Boundary to finish the 14th over. It had been a good over up until this point but Samson goes across the line to lift this behind the stumps on the leg side for a boundary. RR- 128/2 after 14 over.
After conceding 21 runs off his first over, Thakur is back for a second.
Half-century comes up for Samson in that over. After the end of 13, RR- 119/2.
Mohsin has dropped Parag off the fourth ball of the over from Bishnoi. Easy chance at short fine after the ball took the edge from Parag's attemped sweep but it goes to ground. Earlier, Samson had started the over with a boundary. Should have been a wicket there. How costly will that prove to be?
Good spell from him, although he did not pick a wicket. His overs going for only 6 runs. 12 overs bowled, RR-110/2.
Two sixes in the Bishnoi over already. First it was Parag who ensured that the ball lands outside the ropes before Samson chipped in a with a maximum too. 15 runs coming off the over. 11 overs bowled, RR- 104/2.
Krunal With Another Decent Over. 5 runs off it. After 10 overs, RR- 89/2.
This time it's off the bat off Samson. Two more sixes to end the over. 9 overs bowled, RR- 84/2. Yash Thakur concedes 21 runs off his 1st over. Partnership worth 40 off 30.
Parag has read the length early and pulled the second ball of the over for a maximum. Will the youngster finally have a breakthrough season?
Change In Bowling after the time-out. It's Yash Thakur who has the ball in hand.
Spinners have slowed down RR's run rate. Another economical over from Krunal. Four singles off it. RR- 63/2 after 8 overs.
5 runs off the over from Bishnoi. Tidy one from the spinner. 7 overs bowled, RR are 59/2.
Ravi Bishnoi to roll his arms over now.
Birthday boy Krunal Pandya bowls the final over of the powerplay for LSG. Concedes 5 runs off it. LSG- 54/2. Riyan Parag has joined Samson at the fall of Jaiswal.
Wow!! What an eventful over that from Mohsin. 4,0,6,1,6,W- that's how the over was bowled. A four and a six off the bat of Samson before a maximum from Jaiswal who was ultimately outwitted by Mohsin's heavy ball. He falls for 24 off 12. RR- 49/2 after 5 overs.
Third over on the trot for Moshin. 2 for 14 so far.
And there's a boundary to end the fourth over. Jaiswal again. Makes room and goes though with the drive in the cover region. RR- 32/1 after 4 overs.
Another day into the fourth over as there seems to an issue with the bail.
Naveen continues from the other end for LSG.
Back-to-Back fours off the bat of Jaiswal. It's Mohsin who concedes the boundaries on the off-side. 11 runs off the over. After the end of 3 overs, RR- 24/1.
Samson comes in at 3 after the fall of Buttler. Mohsin to continue.
Naveen gets rid of Buttler. The England star had already taken him for two boundaries in the over but has the bowler has the last laugh as he gets the edge off the last bal in which Butter had attemped a drive. Caught behind the stumps by Rahul. RR-13/1 after 2 overs.
Naveen-ul-Haq from the other end for LSG and Buttler finds the fence off the second ball. Will they be able to convert this into a big over?
3 runs coming off the first over. RR- 3/0 after the 1st over.
It's taken the ground authorities about 5 minutes to clear the glitch and get the match underway.
Would you believe it? There's a cable from the spidercam that needs clearing which is what has halted the fixture in the very first over of the contest. Bizarre reason for a pause in the fixture.
Here we go. Out come the RR openers- Jaiswal and Buttler. Mohsin Khan has the new ball in hand for LSG.

Hello and welcome everybody to the live coverage of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 clash between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. It's the first of the two IPL matches on Sunday (March 24).
Background
Thank you for joining us on ABP Live's Live Coverage of match number 5 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 where ultimately it was the Rajasthan Royals (RR) who beat the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) by 20 runs. While RR started the season with Sanju Samson, someone who has been with them for quite some time now, at the helm of affairs, LSG have been bolstered with the return of KL Rahul who was ruled out midseason last year with an injury.
There was an amazing bunch of young and experienced players on display in this match with youngsters like Jasiwal and Padikkal on one hand while experienced campaigners like Buttler and De Kock on the other. In the bowling department, focus was on RR's Yuzvendra Chahal and R Ashwin- the two spinners who were the top two highest wicket-takers for the team last season with Chahal topping Ashwin's tally. For Lucknow, Ravi Bishnoi was oustanding while Boult from RR also made a mark.
With the T20 World Cup also in sight, this season will be an opportunity for several players to leave a final impression on the selectors before squads are announced for the marquee ICC event in June.
All in all, the stage was set for a riveting cricket contest between a side that has not the competition since the inaugural edition in 2008 and one that started in 2022 and reached playoffs in each of the two seasons that it has appeared in so far where ultimatley it was the hosts who emerged victorious.
