In the match against Mumbai Indians on Sunday, RCB’s star batters Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli forged a huge 148-run opening stand at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru and helped their team defeat five-time champions. Post their heroics, former RCB stalwart Chris Gayle lauded both batters. While talking on JioCinema, Gayle said, “We know Faf is class. He’s an excellent captain and an excellent player. He has done it all over international cricket as well, so this is not new to Faf.”

“One thing I can tell you, Virat and Faf are going to feed off each other perfectly. Look at the way they start, they look to drop and run. They pick up their ones and their twos and by the third overcomes, they’re ready to take it out. That’s something bowlers and teams got to be aware of because these two, I’ve said this before, you’re guaranteed almost 400 runs,” he added.

Virat and Faf smashed brilliant half-centuries and helped RCB to an eight-wicket victory. The former India skipper scored an unbeaten on 82 off 49 balls while Faf made 73 off 43 balls. Arshad Khan and Cameron Green were the only wicket-takers for Mumbai Indians, however, leg spinner Piyush Chawla also bowled well but he did not get any wickets, giving away  26 runs from his 4 overs.

For Mumbai, left-arm batter Tilak Varma was the lone star as he scored 84 runs and helped Mumbai reach a fighting total of 171 runs in their 20 overs.

For RCB, it was spinner Karn Sharma who stood with the ball and picked up two wickets, conceding 32 runs from his four overs off quota. Mohammed Siraj, Reece Topley, Akash Deep, Harshal Patel, and Michael Bracewell were the other bowlers who picked a wicket each.
