Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni formed a genuine bond over the years through their glorious cricket careers. Virat has never shied away from publicly expressing his fondness for the two-time World Cup winning captain. MS Dhoni quit Test captaincy in 2014 but it was a few years later when Kohli's era and transition in Indian cricket truly began. In 2017, Dhoni officially passed the torch to Kohli by calling it quits from ODI and T20I captaincy as well. Since then, Virat Kohli has led the national team to great achievements and continues to be the face of Indian cricket, while MS Dhoni is the beating heart of franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK).

Meanwhile, a video has gone viral on social media in which the oldest captain in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, Chennai Super Kings legend MS Dhoni gives his former teammate and close friend Virat Kohli a special mention while delivering a rousing dressing room speech prior to RCB's IPL 2023 match against Delhi Capitals on Wednesday.
“Virat doesn’t play the first ball like this. It is always here," Dhoni can be heard explaining Kohli's batting style to someone in the CSK dressing room.
In first match of double-header Wednesday, Virat Kohli-starrer Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) suffered a defeat at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC). Chennai Super Kings (CSK) attained an easy win over Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday.
RCB, in every IPL season, have a star-studded lineup but they still are one of the fewest teams yet to win the IPL title. MS Dhoni-led CSK have won the IPL final four times. Recently, ex-Pakistan skipper Wasim Akram, one of the most respected voices in international cricket, had opined that RCB would have won three IPL titles by now if MS Dhoni was their captain.
