Team India's star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is on the road to recovery after surviving a horrific car crash last year in December. The accident took place when Pant was driving from Delhi to his hometown in Uttarakhand as he wanted to surprise his family ahead of new year. The 25-year-old reportedly lost control of his car, resulting in a life-threatening crash. The near fatal accident was so terrible that Pant's car flipped multiple times before completely burning down to ashes. Luckily, with help of some locals Pant was able to escape in time.
Meanwhile, team India's senior opener Shikhar Dhawan, who shares a close bond with Rishabh Pant, revealed that in the past he once saw Pant drive once after which he advised the youngster to drive slow.
"I saw him drive once, I am happy that Rishabh managed to survive that accident. He is recovering well. I keeep talking to him. I saw him drive once and told him to drive cars slowly. I didn't even remember that interview, I don't know how it cropped up on social media," said Dhawan to Aaj Tak.
"I spoke my heart that day. But when you are 20-21, you have that extra enthusiasm in your life... it's not like Rishabh drove his car rashly, at that age, I have also driven rashly. Many others would have done the same. At these times, you have to keep your adrenaline rush in check, it's important. Yes, I did give him advice," he added.
Days after Pant's car accident, an old video featuring Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan went viral on social media. In the video, Dhawan was seen advising Pant to drive slowly. The video seems to be three years old when Pant and Dhawan played for franchise Delhi Capitals in IPL 2019. Pant can be seen asking the veteran opener for an advice to which he responds by saying: "Gaadi araam se chalaya kar."
It will take few more months for Pant to get match-fit and the player will miss the 2023 ODI World Cup and 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), this year.
