Ahmedabad: Gujarat Titans (GT) beat the Mumbai Indians (MI) in IPL 2023 Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Friday. After being invited to bat first, GT posted a mammoth 233/3. In response, MI were bowled out for just 171. Shubman Gill was undoubtedly the star of the match for GT as he scored a sensational hundred, his third one of the season. The 23-year-old finished on 129 off 60 deliveries, an innings which was studded with seven boundaries and 10 sixes.

The result now means GT will take on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the same venue on Sunday (May 28). CSK had defeated GT in Qualifier 1 and were waiting for the other finalist which has now been decided with Gujarat's comprehensive win over Mumbai. Other than Gill's superb knock, Mohit Sharma was also the star for the defending champions who have made it to their second straight final. Mohit finished with figures of 5 for 10 in 2.2 overs, being introduced into the attack only in the 15th over of Mumbai's run-chase.

Mumbai had litttle going their way in this game with Ishan Kishan also sustaining a concussion in the most harmless manner as teammate Chris Jordan's elbow hit him on the eye socket. As a result, MI were forced to change their batting order before it was informed Kishan wouldn't be able to come out to bat at all. In his absence, Nehal Wadhera (Impact Sub) came out to open and Vishnu Vinod, who was announced Kishan's concussion sub, was slotted in the middle order.

However, MI's best fight came from the bat of Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma. While Suyrakumar scored 61 off 38, Varma had earlier kept MI in the hunt with a 14-ball 43. Barring them and a 30 off 20 from Cameron Green, none of the other Mumbai batters could cross the double-digit mark with the five-time champions getting bowled out in 18.2 overs.
