Mumbai Indians' (MI) next encounter in the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be against Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali, Chandigarh on Wednesday (May 3). This is the second time that the two teams will face each other this season with PBKS having won the reverse fixture at the Wankhede Stadium.
Ahead of this encounter though, it is MI's hilarious way of punishing two of their players for turning up late for a meeting. Youngsters Arshad Khan and Hrithik Shokeen, who were guilty of being late, were asked to wear special punishment jumpsuits as MI travelled to the venue for their next game.
"𝐍𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐑 come late to an MI meeting! Let Arshad and Hrithik show you why 😂😅 #OneFamily #MumbaiMeriJaan #MumbaiIndians #TATAIPL #IPL2023 @Hrithik14S," the official social media handle of the five-time winners tweeted.
MI did not have a very good start to their IPL 2023 campaign but have given themselves a good chance to qualify for the Playoffs with 8 points after 8 matches. They have won 4 matches and lost their other 4 in the 8 that they have played so far and find themselves at the seventh place on the points table. Five teams ranked above Mumbai, including PBKS, all have 10 points as of now while Gujarat Titans right at the top have 12 points from 8 matches.
PBKS are currently at the sixth place with 10 points but they have played a match more than MI at this stage. Both the teams are fresh off a win in their most recent fixtures with PBKS's win coming against Chennai Super Kings in a record chase and MI too tasting victory against Rajasthan Royals in dramatic fashion in what was IPL's 1000th game.
