Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) beat the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets in match number 58 of IPL 2023. While SRH won the toss and elected to bat first in this afternoon fixture at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Saturday, they posted 182/6 riding on contributions from Heinrich Klaasen's 47 off 29, Abdul Samad's unbeaten 37 off 25, Aiden Markram's 28 off 20 and Anmolpreet Singh's 36 off 27. In response, LSG kept wickets in hand before an impetus inducking knock from Nicholas Pooran (44* off 13) helped them win the match by 7 wickets. Prerak Mankad, who came in at number 3, top-scored for LSG with 64 from 45 deliveries.

Earlier, it was Krunal Pandya who had a great game with the ball in hand for LSG. The Lucknow captain finished with figures for 2/24 and set up the foundation of their win by ensuring that SRH are restrict to a chasable total on this surface. At one stage, the Orange Army was going at 10 runs an over and it looked like they would post a total in excess of 200 but that wasn't to be with Krunal's double-strike getting the home team's scoring rate down.

In the end it was really Samad's knock that proelled them to the total they eventually managed. In the run-chase, LSG managed just 30 runs of the powerplay and saw Kyle Mayers depart for a struggling 2 off 12. However, the positive for them was that they had wickets in tact and they timed their chase to perfection with Pooran striking at over 300 in his short stay at the wicket and all other batters barring Mayers at above 140.

For SRH,  Glenn Phillips, Mayank Markande and Abhishek Sharma picked up a wicket each. The Orange Army bowlers had kept LSG under pressure but once they were put under a bit of pressure, they couldn't hold their nerve. The result means LSG are now inside top four with 13 points from 12 matches. SRH, meanwhile, have 8 points from 11 matches and are on the ninth position on the table.
