Gujarat Titans (GT) pacer Mohammed Shami completed his 100 wickets in the Indian Premier League (IPL) during the ongoing Chennai Super Kings vs Gujarat Titans IPL 2023 tournament opener in Ahmedabad on Friday. Shami, making his 94th appearance in the tournament, snared CSK opener Devon Conway to get to the milestone.
It was a full-length delivery from Shami that came in sharply and Conway wanted to drive it but missed it completely.
The ball went on to crack the gap between bat and pad and rattled the stumps. The right-arm pacer has been bowling with an average of 29.19 and with an economy rate of 8.52 in IPL. It was during the last IPL when Gujarat Titans roped in Shami for a whopping amount of 6.25 crores. He ended the last season by picking 20 wickets.
Earlier, Gujarat's Hardik Pandya won the toss and opted to bowl against Chennai Super Kings. Chennai included Rajvardhan Hangargekar in their playing XI and gave him a chance to debut in the cash-rich league.
