IPL 2022: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) players - Nitish Rana & Rinku Singh - got in a challenge at the KKR nets in Mumbai. Nitish had the pads on, while Rinku Singh bowled on with an unusual off-break action.

Kolkata Knight Riders posted this video of 'Nitish vs Rinku' and called it an '8-ball challenge'. Although, the battle went on for more than eight balls.

It began with Nitish Rana defending a few balls. Rinku Singh then bowled one flighted delivery outside off-stump. In trying to reach the ball, Rana scooped it up in the air in the direction of mid-off. Then began the debate whether the player was out or not?

Nitish Rana argued that he was not-out as per the field set by Rinku, while the bowler was adamant about the wicket as he said he had told about the fielder at long-off. Varun Chakravarthy, the spinner jumps in and says that it was indeed out.

The challenge goes on and Nitish Kumar hits Rinku for a few big shots and gets out once again. Take a look at the fun banter between the two KKR players:

Rinku went to coach Brendon McCullum after the challenge to tell him about it.

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 is set to start on March 26th. The first match of the tournament will be played between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and runners-up Kolkata Knight Riders.

Kolkata Knight Riders entered the auction having retained four of their match-winners from last season: Venkatesh Iyer, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, and Sunil Narine. On the first day of the auction, they bought back Nitish Rana, Pat Cummins, and Shivam Mavi. In an attempt to retain some players, they might have overpaid for some of them.
