Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) recorded the highest-team total ever in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) when they locked horns against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on March 27 (Wednesday). Riding on half-centuries from Travis Head (62 off 24), Abhishek Sharma (63 off 23) and Heinrich Klaasen (80* off 34), the Orange Army went on to post a total of 277/3.
Klaseen ended up top-scoring for his team and even got to the top of the Orange Cap charts with 143 runs from 2 matches. The South African was in prime form on Wednesday as well as his innings was studded with 4 boundaries and 7 sixes. Not only did the entire crowd go crazy but there was a special cheerleader for Klaseen, his 14-month-old daughter. Her reaction to her father's attacking knock has gone viral on social media.

IPL 2024, SRH vs MI: Mumbai Score Highest Team Total In A Run Chase But In A Losing Cause
As far the match is concerned, SRH ended up winning the contest by 31 runs. In response to Hyderabad's record 277, MI tSunrioo posted the highest total ever in a run-chase in IPL but it came in a losing cause as they posted 246/5. That also meant a new record of the highest aggregate total in T20s. A total of 523 runs were scored in the match beating the previous record of 517 set in the West Indies vs South Africa T20I in March last year.
The means SRH now find themselves at the third place on the points table with 2 points after 2 matches and a net run rate of +0.675. MI, meanwhile, languish at the ninth place with 0 points and a net run rate of -0.925 after 2 losses in a row to begin their IPL 2024 campaign.
