Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Harry Book might not have had a great start in IPL 2023, however, in the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Friday he did come good and boy did he make it count. The England star became the first-ever centurion in the 2023 season of the tournament.

Coming out to open the batting, the right-handed batter scored 100 runs off 55 balls in this fixture at the Eden Garden in Kolkata. Riding on his superb innings, which included a dozen boundaries apart from 3 sixes, the Orange Army first posted 228/4 in their 20 overs before restricting KKR to 205/7, thus stitching a win by 23 runs.

In the run-chase, KKR skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh did score half-centuries but it wasn't enough in the end to register a win after a special knock from Brook in which he remained unbeaten in the end. After the match in Kolkata, Brook celebrated his special effort by feasting on Rasgulla.

He also enjoyed cake as a video of SRH featuring the star cricketer shows him with his face covered with cake, having the famous sweet from East India.

"It was a special night, it was tense but it's good to be on the winning side. [on batting at the top of the order]: A lot of people say it's the best place to bat at. I am happy to do what team wants me to do. This knock is definitely up the there[in the list of my best performances]," the 24-year-old said after the match

"There was one ball I was facing against Chakravarthy and crowd went mental. I think I was putting pressure on myself after a few games, you go to social media and people talk rubbish. I just went in the don't-care mode today and played this knock," he added.
