Gujarat Titans pacer Yash Dayal will always remember the 'unforgettable' April 9 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders, which saw the GT pacer getting smacked for five back-to-back sixes of final over by KKR's Rinku Singh. Yash was asked to defend 29 runs in the 20th over when Rinku stunned Gujarat and cricketing world by pulling off one of the biggest heists in T20Is to seal a memorable win for his team at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium.

In an exclusive conversation with The Indian Express, Yash's father Chanderpaul, a former fast bowler in the Vizzy Trophy in late 80's, revealed what he told his son Yash after he failed to defend 29 runs in last over agaisnt Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2023.
"'Ghabraana nahi (Don't get scared)'. I then said: 'This is not some new thing in cricket. Bowlers getting hit. It has happened to big bowlers. Just do hard work, see where you made mistakes, but remember this is not the first time it has happened in cricket. Big players like Malinga, Stuart Broad have gone through the situation," said Chenderpaul in an interview to The Indian Express.

Gujarat Titans’ left-arm pacer Yash Dayal registered himself on an unwanted list on Sunday against Kolkata Knight Riders. In his four overs, he conceded 69 runs and registered the second-most expensive figures in the history of the IPL.
The journey was never a cakewalk for Dayal as he never got selected for U-14, U-16, and U-19 teams. After a string of good performances in the domestic circuit, Yash was roped in by Gujarat Titans for INR 3.2 crores in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
