DC vs RCB LIVE

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the IPL 2023 contest between DC and RCB. In the reverse fixture, RCB had defeated DC by 23 runs.

Background

It will be a homecoming for Virat Kohli who will play in Delhi but in an away fixture as Delhi Capitals (DC) host Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. As things stand, RCB find themselves at the middle of the points table with 5 wins and 4 defeats from 9 matches and they are placed on the fifth position in the ten-team table. In contrast, DC are at the bottom of the table with 3 wins and 6 losses in 9 games.

In a setback to the home team for this much-anticipated fixture, Delhi's Anrich Nortje will not be available for this game as he has flown back home for a personal emergency. It would be interesting to see who the team decides to go ahead with the in the Playing 11 in his place especially with Bangladesh's Mustafizur Rahman already having flown back. Lungi Ngidi his likely to play his first match.

Their concern in terms of form though has been with the batters. Their run rate in the powerplay hasn't been among the best and they would ideally need a David Warner in prime form scoring at a brisk pace at the top of the order which will help resolve a lot of their concerns. In contrast, RCB's top-order has been one of their strengths but they would need more contributions with the bat from other batters apart from the famed trio of Virat Kohli, Glenn Maxwell and captain Faf du Plessis.

Kedar Jadav has been brought in as a replacement player and he could be in this game just for that role in the middle and lower order. Wanindu Hasaranga and Karn Sharma have been poten spin bowling options for the side with Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood and Harshal Patel or Vijaykumar Vyshak doing the job for side in the pace department. Sparingly even Adam Zampa has been used as a spin option.

For Delhi, it would Ngidi's rhythm focus would be on Ngidi's rhythm after being on the sidelines so far. Aman Khan, Ripal Patel, Ishant Sharma and Khaleel Ahmed are the other fast medium or pace bowling options with Delhi has apart from the spin duo of Axar Patel and Kuldeep Yadav. The final combination will also depend on the captain's reading of the pitch.

Probable XIs:

DC: David Warner (Captain), Philip Salt (wicketkeeper), Mitch Marsh, Manish Pandey, Priyam Garg, Axar Patel, Ripal Patel, Aman Hakim Khan, Kuldeep Yadav, Anrich Nortje, Ishant Sharma

RCB: Virat Kohli, Faf du Plessis (Captain), Anuj Rawat, Glenn Maxwell, Mahipal Lomror/Suyash Prabhudessai, Dinesh Karthik (wicketkeeper), Kedar Jadhav, Wanindu Hasaranga, Karn Sharma, Mohammed Siraj, Josh Hazlewood
