DC vs KKR Highlights: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) hand Delhi Capitals (DC) the IPL 2024 season's biggest defeat as they win by 106 runs.
KKR continue their impressive form with a comprehensive all-round performance. Opting to bat first on a batting-friendly pitch, Shreyas Iyer's decision proved fruitful as his betters delivered outstandingly. Narine and Raghuvanshi's aggressive batting, along with quick contributions from Russell and Rinku Singh propelled KKR to their highest-ever total and IPL 2024 season's second-highest total. Facing a daunting target, DC struggled from the onset, losing wickets early on and never recovering. Pant and Stubbs provided some entertainment with their attractive strokeplay, but their efforts fell short as KKR emerged victorious by a massive margin. This win has done wonders for KKR's NRR as they sit atop the IPL 2024 points table with the NRR of +2.5.

Vaibhav Arora bowls to Rasikh Salam, who is caught by Philip Salt! Salam departs after scoring 1 run off 5 balls, caught by Salt off Arora's bowling. KKR just 1 wicket away from a big win. DC are 166-9 after 17 overs.
One more wicket falls as Delhi Capitals lose Sumit Kumar off Sunil Narine's bowling. Sumit Kumar attempts to heave the tossed-up delivery over deep mid-wicket but fails to generate enough elevation and power. Substitute fielder Manish Pandey makes a secure catch.
Varun Chakaravarthy delivers the ball to Tristan Stubbs, who is caught by Mitchell Starc! Stubbs departs after scoring 54 runs off 32 balls, including 4 fours and 4 sixes, off Chakaravarthy's bowling. DC are 159-7 after 15 overs.
Sunil Narine comes into the attack and Tristan Stubbs takes him on and hits him for three sixes in the over. 19 runs from the over. DC are 148-6 after 14 overs. Need 125 runs in 36 balls to win.
Delhi Capitals lose Axar Patel on the very next ball as Kolkata Knight Riders strike on two back-to-back deliveries. DC are 129-6 after 13 overs.
Chakaravarthy bowls to Pant, and he's caught by Shreyas Iyer! Pant's entertaining innings comes to a close.
Venkatesh Iyer comes into the attack and goes for 28 runs as Rishabh Pant gets a boundary off every ball of the over. Two sixes and four boundaries in the over. Can Rishabh Pant be the magic that DC require so desperately?
DC get 10 runs off the Chakaravarthy over. DC are 97-4 after 11 overs.
DC need over 19 runs in an over as Pant and Stubbs look hapless out in the middle.
Varun Chakaravarthy is welcomed by a massive six by Tristan Stubbs of Delhi Capitals. 13 runs off that over. DC are 83-4 after 9 overs.
KKR's batting hero, Sunile Narine, delivers it with the ball as well as he bowls a calm over for KKR. Just 5 off the over.
Andre Russel comes into the attack for KKR and is dispatched for two back-to-back sixes by Rishabh Pant. DC are 65-4 after 7 overs.
It is the end of powerplay for Delhi Capitals and they are 51-4 after 6 overs. Need 222 in 84 balls.
Is that the end of DC's hopes in this massive run-chase? It's pitched on a good length around the off-stump line and while there is little width to cut this ball, Warner probably high from the condifence of having hit a six off the earlier ball, goes for the cut but only managed to play it on to his stumps. DC-33/4 after 4.3 Overs.
Abishek Porel's Stay At The Wicket Ends. DC lose their third inside the powerplay and seems like the pressure of the massive chase getting to them. Arora has left a mark already in this innings. He gets his second wicket, this time with a short delivery that proves too good for Porel. Simple catch for short fine leg. DC- 27/3 after 4 overs.
FIRST WICKET IN IPL 2024 for Mitchell Starc! He gets of Mitchell Marsh for a duck. Sweetly timed from Marsh as he realised there is no space for a sighter in this run chase and threw his hands at the ball after getting a bit of a width but it's straight to the man at cover point. DC- 26/2 after 2.5 Overs.
Mitchell Marsh in at 3 for DC. He joins his compatriot David Warner.
Vaibhav Arora STRIKES! He might have been hit for a couple of boundaries by Warner to begin with but has come back well to Shaw. First and LBW appeal and a review by KKR which remains not out before he gets rid of Shaw the very next ball. Varun Chakravarthy takes a good catch diving forward at mid-on. Shaw walks back for 10 off 7. Third umpire has a good look at that before ruling in favour of the bowling team. DC- 21/1 after 1.5 Overs.
It's back-to-back boundaries to end the first over. Prithvi Shaw the batter for DC who gets things going. First one, quite deliberately slashed over the slips before a boundary over cover point. Hints of a spirited run-chase this from DC already! They end the 1st over at 11/0.
We are back with the chase. It's David Warner and Prithvi Shaw who open for DC. Mitchell Starc has the new ball in hand for KKR. There are not too many ways of approaching this run chase when the required run rate is 13.65 runs at the outset.
What did we witness? Has batting become that easy suddenly this season? Surely, a special innings from Narine who scored a career-best 85 off 39. Impressive contributions from Angkrish Raghuvanshi who scored 54 off 27 while Andre Russell and Rinku Singh too did their job to just about perfection as they ended up with scores of 41 off 19 and 26 off 8 respectively. Anrich Nortje- the pick of the bowlers (or really?) for DC as he did finish with 3 wickets but went for 59 runs in his quota of 4 overs. Ishant Sharma (2/43), Khaleel Ahmed (1/43) and Mitcell Marsh (1/37) the other wicket takers for DC. Had it not been for a great final over from Ishant, given the context of the game, this could have been easily an all-time IPL record but nonetheless this is a sublime effort by KKR and it would need a herculian effort from the DC batters to dwarf this total.
CRICKET LOVERS, the record of 277 set earlier in the season by SRH is safe! Should we say a sensational final over from Ishant Sharma who concedes only 8 runs off the final over while taking 2 wickets or praise the dominant KKR batting? Definitely KKR's evening so far as thet post 272/7, the second-highest total ever in the history of the IPL and the first time in a season that the 270-mark has been breached twice.
Ishant Sharma it is who will finish off for DC. Man, what a run fest this is turning out to be. Can DC prevent the record at least?

Russell SMASHES A SIX! Full and wide and it's got the treatment from the West Indian. 200 up for KKR and it's only the end of the 16th over. KKR- 205/3 after 16 overs.
Khaleel returns into the attack.
Russell with a maximum over long-on off the fourth ball of Rasikh Salam's third over before a boundary off the next ball. A single off the last ball. KKR- 195/3 after 15 overs.
Wickets in quick succession. Both the set batters dismissed as Raghuvanshi who scored a 25-ball 50 on his debut IPL innings falls for 54 off 27. Nortje gets the wicket. KKR- 176/3 after 13.2 Overs.
Russell walks out at 4. The stage is set for a grand Russell finish from here.
And there's the breakthrough! It's Mitch Marsh who produces it as he gets rid of the danger man Narine after a blistering innings. Narine out for 85 off 39 as he gets an edge to a wide, short ball which is taken by the keeper. Some relief for DC. Narine falls for a T20 career-best 85 off 39. KKR- 164/2 after 12.3 Overs.
Sunil Narine has surpassed his highest T20 score already. Nortje returned for a second over but Narine shows no respect once again as he manages to lift one over mid off and tim it well enough to send it for a six. He moves into the 80s. He is at 85 off 37 at the end of the 12-over mark. KKR- 162/1 after 12 overs.
No mercy from either of these batters. Rasikh Salam might have come back for an over but he concedes two sixes in the over with Raghuvanshi taking the attack to the opposition this time around. Incredible batting this in partnership. 15 off the over. KKR- 150/1 after 15 overs.
Mitchell Marsh into the attack. Concedes 9 runs. Another boundary in the over off the bat of Narine. KKR- 135/1 after 10 overs. Still 10 to go. Wow, we looking at another mammoth total on the cards.
It's not a solo show here in Vizag. A Raghuvanshi on the charge as well and smashes a SIX and a FOUR to end the ninth over. KKR- 126/1 after 9 overs. Angkrish Raghuvanshi- 31* off 14, Sunil Narine- 68* off 28.
Narine's onslaught continues. He smashes two sixes off Axar Patel after a boundary off the bat of Raghuvanshi first ball. It's raining boundaries in this innings. Axar concedes 19 runs off his first over. KKR- 112/1 after 8 overs.
And finally a boundaryless over. Sumit Kumar concedes 5. Nortje drops a tough catch of Narine.
Sunil 'Unstoppable' Narine at the moment here in Vizag. Double change in bowling as Rasikh Salam replaces Ishant. But no change in approach from Narine. He goes FOUR, SIX off the second and third balls before back-to-back boundaries to end the over. Narine completes a 21-ball fifty. KKR- 88/1 at the end of the powerplay.
Angkrish Raghuvanshi In At 3 and takes no time to settle in. FOUR, FOUR and 2 Off His First three balls. 12 runs and a wicket off the over. After 5 overs, KKR- 70/1
And there's the wicket that DC desperately needed. Salt tries to clear the infield but it's Anrich Nortje who had replaced Khaleel into the attack who gets the wicket as his extra bit of pace gets the better of Salt who falls for 18 off 12, caught at mid off by Stubbs. DC- 60/1 after 4.3 Overs.
26 runs off the over and it's all Narine. Post those early sixes, Ishant went for a fuller-length wide outside off and even as Narine did not get the desired connection on the third ball, it went for a boundary between point and short third man. Sharma then got the only dot ball of the over before a six over extra cover and an edge going for four off the last ball - all of the bat of the southpaw. KKR- 58/0 after 4 overs.
Sunil Narine has taken off in Vizag! And in some style, mind you. First one is down the ground for a maximum when Ishant Sharma is full and then he anticipates a correction in lengths and pulls the second ball for a massive six on the leg side. 6, 6 to begin over number 4 for KKR.
And now Khaleel concedes three boundaries in the over. First one off the bat of Sunil Narine through before point before Salt found the fence twice on the off-side. This is a great start already as 15 come off the over. After 3 overs, KKR-32/0.
Ishant Sharma from the other end for DC. Back-to-back boundaries to end the second over from the bat of Phil Salt. KKR are up and running. KKR- 17/0 after 2 overs.
Replays confirmed it was dropped catch by Rishabh Pant first ball as Salt gets a thick outside edge which goes behind the wickets for a boundary. However, the umpire signals it as byes. Huge deflection there. Eventually 7 come off the opening over. But no runs off the bat, 4byes and 3 wides. KKR- 7/0 after the 1st over.

It is the Delhi Capitals (DC) who play at their home away from home in Visakhapatnam as they take on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Dr YS Rajasekhara Reddy Stadium. While this will be the fourth match of the season for DC, it will mark the third fixture of this year's tournament for KKR.
DC have registered a solitary win from three matches so far while KKR are yet to drop a game and have won both their matches so far. Having said that it is this very venue that Delhi tasted a win. The wicket in Vizag is not like most other venues this IPL as it is known to offer a bit more assistance to the pacers than most other surfaces on which the seventeenth edition of the tournanent is being played which means it could just be the wicket where Mitchell Starc, IPL's most expensive buy to date, can find some form and rhythm for KKR who already look like a threatening side.
Even in the only match that has been played at this surface, nine wickets fell to pace while two fell to spin as DC took on CSK and if that is anything to go by, one could expect a similar wicket for this match and for the remaining matches here in this season. It would be interesting to see if KKR will try Vaibhav Arora, given the kind of surface one is expecting in Vizag this season.
